Please join us for our annual workday at Pelots Nature Area on Saturday May 30th from 8-10am. We will have coffee/donuts/snacks while we visit and chat about projects.

Some folks will trim back branches, while others will pull the garlic mustard that is gaining on us. Good news is that pulling garlic mustard works. MaryJo has been pulling it at Ingalls for years and this year it was pretty much gone! We will have bags for collecting it. If we have enough folks, some can go down to the Footpath to spread wood chips on the trail.

Bring gloves, wear sturdy boots/hat, bring water, and bring favorite clipper if you want. We have an assortment of hand tools as well.

Check out the Islander article on the garlic mustard pull on page 11. We can always use more folks to volunteer! If you can't make it on the 30th please head down on your own to pull garlic mustard.

Sunday morning walk at Pelots. Still some wildflowers around but also plenty of Garlic Mustard crowding out the beautiful flowers!
Lots of birds singing during our walk and even had the Wood Duck fly out of the box!

Where: Camp Ingalls Butternut Hill Natural Area, 1769 South End Road, North Hero

Save the date!

The annual garlic pull sponsored by the North Hero Parks and Recreation Committee is adding a social component this year. Kraemer and Kin is joining us, adding a "pull today, pour tomorrow" feature. Some of the plants pulled will be used in brewing. You can imagine drinking the resulting brew while overlooking City Bay, as you join a team of Islanders who relentlessly labor to eradicate this invasive - a silver lining!

Field games, including corn hole, wiffle ball and croquet will be offered plus a scavenger hunt. You can bring the whole family and the kids will be happily engaged in planned activities.

Bring your own lunch. Light refreshments will be provided.

Also bring hiking shoes, bug repellent, sunscreen, gloves and water bottle.

Bags will be provided and a photo of garlic mustard if you have had the good fortune of it not growing in your yard!

Hope to see you then. Rain date: May 17 from 12-2.

Other upcoming events will be posted soon for trail maintenance at Ingalls/Pelots/Footpath on the Island Line.

The third graders from CIUUSD visited Camp Ingalls recently with their French and Art teachers. They are studying the artist, Monet, and came to our park to do some plein air painting of our beautiful trees. It was wonderful having them and watching them work their magic with paint, brushes and paper.
