These make great desserts for summer cookouts! Tip: Cut them into fourths and make a Cookie-Charcuterie tray. That way your guests can try several flavors!

Best Garlic Bread Ever:

1. Select your favorite flavor of ’s Cottage Kitchen sourdough bread.
2. Slice and spread on some hand rolled WW Homestead Dairy butter.
3. Put the loaf back together and wrap in aluminum foil.
4. Heat in the oven or on the grill until warm and butter melted.

Tour day today with North Central Iowa Ag in the Classroom! 35 teachers from across North Iowa stopped at the farm as part of a two-day summer Professional Development workshop where they get hands on opportunities to learn about agriculture, gain new ideas for classroom lessons and earn continuing education credits for their teaching license.

We talked about food and farming Gate to Plate: animal genetics, cow care, and nutrition. We wrapped up the day with a tour of the market including taste testing Cheese Curds from WW Homestead Dairy and Syrup from River Maple.

Thank you teachers for all you do to help students learn about agriculture and where food comes from! ❤️ ✏️ 🍎

My little guys remind me how important it is to slow down once in a while and enjoy the beauty around us in North Iowa. Last week we took half a day to be “kid tourists” in Mitchell County.

First stop the Osage Library for a fun kids program put on by some of the cast of Cedar Summerstock Theatre. These students are part of a hard-working crew from all over the country that make Osage home for the summer and put on a series of musicals at the auditorium in the River Complex. We had fun singing, dancing, acting and crafting at the Library with the cast. I’m hoping to snag tickets to their production of Grease later this summer!

Our next stop was to join the fun at Picnics in the Park put on by Mitchell County Conservation Board. Mitchell County Naturalist, Miss Chelsea, is our favorite! (Not just because she’s family, she’s just so much fun!) “Silly Slime” had the kids enjoying a nature hike to hunt for slugs and story time all about Slime. We created our own Racing Slugs and Snail Trials and made some homemade slime!

Being silly and soaking up the sun in a beautiful North Iowa Park makes for a perfect family day!

I’m sure there’s more fun to be had in neighboring towns. Where should the boys and I adventure next?
