This Father’s Day, our heart is with Yan Diomande.
We do not know Yan Diomande personally, but when we read his words about losing his sister, our heart felt heavy. Some pain cannot be explained by football, fame, or success. Losing a sister is like losing a piece of your own soul.
A brother can be more than a brother. Sometimes, he is a protector, a guide, a provider, and the person who carries the family when life becomes too heavy.
Yan’s sister was not only his sister—she was someone he loved deeply, someone who believed in him, someone whose absence left a pain that feels impossible to fill. And after losing his father, losing her may feel like losing the last piece of home.
This Father’s Day reminds us that fatherhood is not only about a title. It is about love, sacrifice, protection, and showing up for the people who need you.
Some brothers become fathers in the way they love.
Some losses stay forever in the heart.
And some love never dies. 💔⚽
“A Letter to My Sister
My dear sister,
Since you left, life has not felt the same.
People see me on the football field. They see the jersey, the stadium lights, the crowds, the dreams. But they do not see the silence I carry inside me when the game is over. They do not see how empty the world can feel when the person who knew your heart is no longer here.
You were not only my sister. You were part of my soul.
You believed in me before anyone else did. When I was tired, you gave me strength. When I doubted myself, you reminded me who I was. When life was difficult, your smile made everything feel possible.
Now I play with a pain I cannot explain.
Every time I step onto the field for Ivory Coast, I carry you with me. Every pass, every run, every goal, every moment—I wish you could see it. I wish I could hear you calling my name one more time. I wish I could come home and tell you everything.
Losing you feels like losing my father all over again.
It is like a part of my heart was taken away, and I am still trying to understand how to live with the empty space you left behind. Some days, I feel strong. Other days, I feel like I am not even human—just blank, trying to survive without you.
But I promise you this:
I will keep going.
I will keep fighting.
I will keep chasing every dream we talked about together.
And when I wear the colors of Ivory Coast, I will wear them for you too.
You may be gone from my eyes, but never from my heart.
Rest peacefully, my beautiful sister.
Your brother forever,
Yan Diomande”
