***STPSO Sergeant Killed in the Line of Duty***
It is with great sadness that Sheriff Randy Smith reports that a sergeant with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office was killed in the line of duty early Sunday morning.
The sergeant was assisting with a pursuit and was deploying a spike strip on Interstate 10 near the Oak Harbor exit when he was struck by the perpetrator’s vehicle and killed.
All perpetrators have been taken into custody.
The sergeant’s name is being withheld at this time so that family can be notified, and no additional information will be released at this time.
