🌿 Our favorite homemade garden bug spray is back!

One of our favorite ways to enjoy the herbs growing all around Hoppy Hills Farm is by turning them into a simple, fresh-smelling bug spray. This year’s “secret ingredient?” 🍋✨ Lemon verbena!

Whether we’re tending the roses, harvesting vegetables, enjoying a family barbecue, or watching Fourth of July fireworks, we love bringing a little bit of the garden with us.

This year, we made two loaves of our favorite banana bread to celebrate our dad. Sometimes the best gifts aren’t fancy—they’re made with butter, ripe bananas, a little vanilla, and a whole lot of love. 💛🍌

We treasure our family recipes here at Hoppy Hills Farm, and this one was passed down from our grandmother—our dad’s mom. Every loaf brings back sweet memories of baking together and reminds us that some traditions are simply too good not to share.

If you’re ever visiting the farm, there’s a pretty good chance we’d offer you a slice of banana bread—and we’d happily share the recipe, too. Around here, the best things are meant to be shared.

🐔❤️ Farm life is a special kind of happiness.

Abbey and I were so excited to meet the new family chickens my sister brought home this week.

We love chickens—not just for the eggs they provide, but for their unique personalities, funny quirks, and the joy they bring to everyday life on the farm.

And while Abbey is technically a dog, she firmly believes her job description includes chicken caretaker, chicken greeter, and occasional chicken cuddler. The new girls seemed a little confused (and maybe a little concerned!) about why a dog was trying to give them kisses, but we’re hopeful they’ll warm up to her eventually.

One day, I hope Abbey and I have a flock of our very own. Until then, we’re incredibly grateful to live on a family farm where we get to share in these little moments and make memories together.

Life isn’t always perfect, but days like this remind me how lucky I am.

💜 Purple, Pickle Jars & a Purpose 🥒🌸

While we were watering the garden before the heat settled in for the day, we picked a few of our favorite blooms and spent a little quiet time with our flowers…and a pickle jar.

We do have beautiful glass vases for special requests and events, but around Hoppy Hills Farm we’re committed to Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. We love giving clean glass jars a second life, and we do our best to avoid plastic whenever we can.

So if you’ve got a few clean pickle jars (or other glass jars) looking for a new purpose, we’d be happy to give them one—filled with flowers.

P.S. Purple-hued flowers have always been some of our favorites…and they’re Mom’s favorite too. 💜 This bouquet is for her today.

Every week brings something new, but right now the garden is overflowing with fragrant roses, cheerful sunflowers, whimsical poppies, lavender, stock, scabiosa, phacelia, and so much more.

The bees are busy, the flowers are thriving, and bouquet season is in full swing. 🐝💐
