Prairie Food Co-op is your neighborhood grocery store with a difference — locally sourced meat, dairy, eggs, and produce, and a strict no-artificial-dyes, non-GMO, no-artificial-flavors policy on everything we stock. (Owners get Perks!)

After over a decade of dedicated community effort, Prairie Food Co-op is set to open its doors on July 9, 2025, at 837 S. As DuPage County’s first community-owned

grocery store, we are proud to offer a full-service shopping experience that emphasizes local, sustainable, and organic products. Prairie Food Co-op is more than just a grocery store; it's a community hub. Our store will feature:

- **Fresh, seasonal produce** sourced from local farms
- **Organic meats and dairy products**
- **Bulk foods**, dry goods, and frozen items
- A **healthy, high-quality deli** with grab-and-go options
- A **welcoming space** for workshops, classes, and community meetings

Every product on our shelves is carefully vetted to ensure it is free from harmful chemicals and additives, aligning with our commitment to health and sustainability. Unlike traditional grocery stores, Prairie Food Co-op is owned by the community members who shop here. This cooperative model ensures that:

- **Profits stay local**, strengthening our economy
- **Decisions are made democratically**, giving owners a voice in store operations
- **Products reflect the values** of our community, focusing on sustainability and health

Our mission is to serve the community, not shareholders, by providing exceptional products and customer service. Why Become an Owner? Becoming an owner of Prairie Food Co-op means investing in a healthier, more sustainable future for our community. Owners enjoy exclusive benefits:

- **10% discount** on one shopping trip per month
- **10% discount** on bulk orders (by the case)
- A **free small hot coffee** every day from 8–10 am
- Eligibility for **annual dividends** during profitable years
- **Free or discounted** access to PFC events and workshops
- The opportunity to **vote for and serve on** our Board of Directors

Your one-time investment of $200 grants you and your household ownership in Prairie Food Co-op. Flexible payment plans are available, including monthly installments of $25. By becoming an owner, you:

- Support local farmers and food producers by providing them with a year-round marketplace
- Encourage sustainable, organic food production
- Help create quality jobs with excellent benefits for community members
- Establish a community gathering place for friends and neighbors
