my dad doesn’t give darn about father’s day, but i think he’s a super neat guy! he will always drop what he’s doing to come help any family member or friend (and the proof is lying around everywhere)! he does run a tight shipwreck, just like me. we are the same, in so many ways. we will be at market this weekend (6/20 & 6/21) with the usual suspects. please pre-order if you know you’re coming or if you gotta have that special thing for dad, or any reason at all… you got it!

Just a few scenes from last week’s time off. I did a bunch of very fulfilling nothing including tending to my jalapeno plant, creek exploration with friends, discovering a raccoon home on our deck, and racing sailboats on a lake in the middle of a cornfield in Ohio. we’re back to it this week and you can find us this weekend (June 13 & 14).

my birthday was spent like most any other monday: a slow cup of coffee with travis, then a slow cup of coffee alone. a quick grocery trip to get birthday dinner ingredients and then a peaceful afternoon slow cup of coffee surrounded by a light breeze coming through the screen doors. i had many birthday texts and well wishes. and i thank you all for them! my cousin made me and angel food cake with homemade strawberry rhubarb jam to go with it. but, the best part, was having my dear friend Anna (and Ruby) over for dinner. we met in 1989 (the year this song came out), but we didn’t become friends until around 1995ish. I don’t know, feels like she’s always been there though. Every big and little moment in my life, she knows ‘em all. We’ve never been the type to talk everyday and don’t even do much real talkin’ when we’re together. Sitting, cooking, eating, laughing, singing, dressing up, doing chores, exploring, hugging, just being. Some people just get you, and know what you need in your life at any given moment and Anna has always been that person for me. The friend who gives you a bottle of tums for your birthday because she ate all of yours. You know how people say “i feel you, girl”, Anna says it and means it. She’s the strongest woman I know, and also the softest. I’ve never met a person that didn’t want to know her, and I’ve never met a friend of hers that I didn’t like 🎶I’m trying to tell you something ‘bout my life
Maybe give me insight between black and white
And the best thing you ever done for me
Is to help me take my life less seriously
It’s only life after all, yeah
Well, darkness has a hunger that’s insatiable
And lightness has a call that’s hard to hear
And I wrap my fear around me like a blanket
I sailed my ship of safety till I sank it
I’m crawling on your shores
And I went to the doctor, I went to the mountains
I looked to the children, I drank from the fountains
There’s more than one answer to these questions
Pointing me in a crooked line
And the less I seek my source for some definitive
(The less I seek my source)
Closer I am to fine, yeah
Closer I am to fine, yeah🎶

Feelin’ great this mornin’ watching the creek flowin’ from all that rain. I think it’s gonna be a great weekend (may 30 &31). Takin’ off next weekend for some good old fashioned family time (june 6&7). Get in where you fit in. Holler at me to order. see ya 🎶Well I’m standing all alone by the river of my home
Thinking about the days I’ve left behind
All the years I roamed not a nickel can I show
And the river helps to ease my worried mind
Well the river run all night, lord, the river runs all day
I can’t run no more cause I’m here to stay
I had an eye for trouble and I’ve lived a life of pain
I sit back and let that water heal my brain
I’m letting go of all my troubles
I think I’ll be right here to stay
Well the water keeps a churning while my poor heart is burning
Muddy water take my pain away
Well one thing I want to know, lord, is where we people go
When everything comes crashing to the ground
Meet me at the creek grab a beer and tap your feet
See that muddy water flowing down🎶

This is that weekend in between busy 2 busy holiday weekends and I’ve made sure to enjoy my downtime. We’ve had some great car rides with Ducky, fishing trip with the guys (bonus points for the net and view of the bakery from the dam) and seeing a wild turkey that has visited several days in a row. Of course there’s Ducky’s favorite; herding the golf cart with his frisbee in his mouth. Then there’s the unintentional live selfie while trying to take a pic of something else… why not? We’ll see y’all this weekend 5/16 & 5/17. Weather forecast is iffy and I’m going BIG next weekend, so please tell me if I can bake/hold anything for you this weekend. Otherwise, I’m kinda baking light.

Hey y’all! We all know a mama or two who could use some peace & quiet AND an extra special gift. We can help with that. She needs her peace & quiet; bring the family (minus HER) to for a few hours. Shop around and take some selfies. Breakfast in bed on Sunday; buy all the things on Saturday… we’ve got allll the Sammich & Crusty breads for frenching and toasting. She’s got a sweet tooth; we’ve got the Sweets&Thangs. We’re happy to hold anything for you to pickup at either location, just let me know what & when. We all know a mom that’s worth celebrating, let us help you do it right.

my sweet angel baby is finally at peace, over the rainbow bridge. today sucks. this photoshoot was just april 1st. it wasn’t sudden, as he was 13, but it is/was very hard to say goodbye. 6 months ago he had a 6pound tumor removed along with his spleen, and in february some tumors popped up in his neck that grew rapidly and his body just couldn’t fight anymore. we will be at market, but just with sweets and very very little bread. don’t mention it if you don’t wanna see me fall apart and ugly cry, because i will. travis too. love y’all. snuggle your babies while you can.
