Tomorrow is Idaho Election Day. Please find where your polling location is and line up a way to get there. This is going to be determining a lot for our future here in idaho, and that of our children… and even their children. Our quality of living. Taxes. Fish and Game. Everything.

Please learn about those running for office. Who aligns with what you want for the future of our state. Who we have right now, those elected officials have done nothing for us or the betterment of Idaho. We need new, fresh eyes on our problems and legislation. Vote them all out. ALL OF THEM. Let’s start over! We as Idahoans hold the power to make the changes here in our state. Do not let “buzz” words guide you. Do the actual research. Vote!

Hatch Chili season is one of my favorite that I look forward to every year. This year I found THIS! It’s magnificent!

I am currently putting it on goose thighs in the crockpot to make Hatch Chili Goose Tacos later on. I’ll be canning it up tomorrow when I get home from school. It’s prepping time for me to get things in order for winter and my spring semester of college. It’s looking a little heavy, and having things like this on hand will help me keep the family fed and my pocketbook a little happier. A little work now, makes it easier for me later.

Trust and believe these will be delicious. 🤤

I also just finished canning a zesty cranberry sauce, using the wild cranberries we picked a few weeks ago. It also tastes amazing. Though I think I’m being partial these days.

What have you canned lately? Is it a prep or to make your life easier?

I have tomatoes in line after this from the garden. I’ve been saving them all summer.

Samhain, pronounced sow-in (meaning summers end in Celtic), is a Celtics fire festival to celebrate the …. Get this… end of summer, and beginning of winter. It’s celebrate for the completion of harvest, and to get livestock ready for winter as the season turns dark… not dark spooky, dark as in winter dark. (I love a good spooky ghost story, but this is more of a reminder for the anti-Halloween people 😉)

The history channel has a great in depth article about it. I will link it below if anyone wants a short read to get in the ‘spirit’ of Samhain/Halloween.

Be safe tonight. Enjoy time with your families and friends. Please get a DD if you are out drinking; line one up now or at least a plan. I hope everyone makes it home. 🚔 don’t get a dui…. No one wants to sit in jail. It’s cheaper and less of a hassle just to have someone pick you up.

Also, I hope everyone that gardened this year has put their gardens to bed, has planted their garlic, and is dreaming of next years plans already. (I know I am!) 🪴🪏👩‍🌾

You know the garden was good this year when you are still getting ripe tomatoes during Halloween. 🎃 I still have so many free ones turning too! I should have fresh tomatoes this next weekend at the Osburn Crafts Fair that will be at the Silver Hills Elementary School!

Today is National Pumpkin Day! While I don’t grow pumpkins… or even have any available, I do have some fun facts about them!

Pumpkins are a berry!! I know, crazy, right!? They are in the squash family, but are berries.

Every part of a pumpkin is edible. The skin, pulp, seeds, stems, leaves, and yellow-orange blossoms are all safe to eat.

The world's largest pumpkin pie weighed a staggering 3,699 pounds and measured 20 feet in diameter.

Spring and fall are my favorite foraging seasons, but now you can have your favorite mushrooms well into the holiday season.

I’ll be bringing mushrooms to the shop Tuesday afternoon, I have class until noon so it will be after 1pm at the soonest. If you see any that strike your fancy, please reach out as I do ship. I have multiple in stock.
