I was longing for peonies, but the garden center priced them at $50/gal! But today my son and I took some pruning debris to the Yard Debris Center in town, and I discovered a huge pile of discarded peonies of multiple varieties. 😢

I picked through them and found a lot that hadn’t bloomed yet, so I took them home. 2 little vases full of charming, fragrant, bushy colors—what a treat!
