Lily of the Valley bouquet just picked. They smell so sweet! In France, it's common to celebrate May 1 with this beauty. We are lucky to have it in our flower beds 🤍

Pumpkin + brie + hot honey. 🎃 🧀 🌶 🍯 Delicious appetizer or part of a meal, easy to make. Goes great with crackers or on slices of baguette bread.

How to:
Clean pumpkin of seeds, bake at 400°F for 30 mins.
Then add brie cheese to the partly cooked pumpkin and score the cheese.
Drizzle with as much honey and red pepper flakes as you want.
Bake again for another 20-30 mins at 400°F.
Pumpkin should be soft and easy to grab a bite from it with a fork.

This pumpkin was stored over the winter from our 2025 patch and is now a late winter treat! The recipe is best with a small savory pumpkin/squash like Sunshine Kabocha.

🥧🥧 How many kinds of pumpkin pie did you have at Thanksgiving? We had 2 kinds! One classic style one and another one with a cheesecake and crumble on top, both were soooo good. The filling made from our homegrown pumpkins!

Harold and the Purple Crayon had 9 kinds of pie in that book.... maybe a number we can strive for next year ;)

We're thankful for our abundant crop of pumpkins this year. Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving holiday!

Iconic Pumpkin Pie made with home-grown pumpkin and baked in a homemade crust.

Pumpkin Pie from scratch:

1 9-inch homemade pie crust, or store-bought, deep dish, unbaked
2 large eggs
1 & 3/4 cups fresh pumpkin puree
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
12 ounce can evaporated milk (half and half or cream could be substituted)

-Beat the eggs and pumpkin puree together. Combine the sugar, cinnamon, salt, ginger, cloves, and add to the pumpkin mixture. Add evaporated milk.

-Pour into an unbaked pie shell and bake at 425°F for for 15 minutes. Then reduce temperature to 350°F and bake for 40 - 50 minutes. Cover crust edges with foil to avoid over browning. The center may jiggle a little bit. It is done when a sharp knife inserted in center comes out clean.

Cool completely and enjoy!

🥕 We dug carrots! The purple ones had neat color patterns with the xylem being yellow and phloem being purple.
They went into tasty soup 😋 Purple carrots are higher in antioxidants than orange carrots.

Digging up the gladiolus bulbs on a nice day before the ground freezes. Our gladiolus are not perennial or winter hardy. These beautiful blooms require the extra effort of planting the bulbs in the spring and digging them up in the Fall before the ground freezes! The effort is so worth it 💗 💐

With the hard freeze that visited us this weekend, we took to the kitchen turning green tomatoes into salsa verde. Can't complain about being next to a warm canner on a cold day. The unripe tomatoes were picked a couple of days prior to the freezing temps. And with an abundant supply of hot peppers that were cleared out of the garden, too, we are turning the last of our produce into one of our favorite sauces. 💚 🍅 🌶 🫑
Use for tacos, enchilada sauce, pozole soup, marinate pork in it... 😋 In the National Center for Home Food Preservation green salsa recipe, swap tomatillios with green tomatoes.
