This past weekend, we responded to a call about a hive that had completely taken over a homeowner’s shed. & wow, they weren’t kidding! After hours of careful, patient work (and yes… a whole lot of stings 😅), we were able to safely remove the colony and relocate them to our apiary. Now they can keep doing what they do best, making our community a greener place, without posing a risk to people or themselves. 🌻🐝🤍

Here’s a close up look at us carefully working through a landed swarm & gently searching for the queen. Once we found her, we placed her safely into a queen cage inside the hive box, & just like that, the rest of the colony knew exactly where their new home was. 💛 🐝 listen to how loud they are!

Today we were called to help rescue the remaining bees from a swarm relocation where part of the colony had been left behind. Thankfully we were able to safely gather them so they could rejoin a hive. Proper swarm removal is super important to the survival of our bee friends! 🐝

Our first swarm of the season! 🐝

Swarming is a natural part of a honey bee colony’s life cycle. It can happen for several reasons like overcrowding or an aging queen. It’s how bees create a brand new colony.

If you spot a swarm, don’t panic! Honey bees are usually very gentle in this stage. Give us a call and we’ll help them safely relocate to a new home.
