Our Speaker this month is Kaylee Richardson. Kaylee is a beekeeper, herbalist, homemaker, and the published author of The Beekeeper's Apothecary, as well as the founder of the Bee Attuned Mushroom Blend.

Tomorrow/Wednesday’s presentation will be a chance for us to learn about the herbs to plant, using honeybee products to enhance your well-being and developing a deeper understanding of how true wellness is built from the ground up.

‘SLIMED OUT’

The beekeeping term "slimed out" first began making its rounds in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
The phrase was coined to describe the unique, devastating wreckage caused by the Small Hive Beetle (Aethina tumida). The timeline of the term aligns directly with the spread of this pest:
• 1996–1998: The Small Hive Beetle was first identified in the United States (specifically in South Carolina and Florida). As it rapidly multiplied in the hot, humid southeastern U.S., beekeepers encountered a disgusting phenomenon they hadn't seen before—beetle larvae defecating in the combs and introducing Kodamaea ohmeri yeast, which ferments the honey into a frothy, rotten-orange-smelling goo.
• 2002: The pest was discovered in Australia. As the beetle wrecked havoc across Australian apiaries, the term officially solidified in global beekeeping vocabulary.

🐝 Free swarm removals, yes.
🐝 Free cut outs? NO.

The amount of time, resources, and effort that goes into a simple swarm removal should be a starting cost of $150. Instead, I offer that for free.

The amount of time, resources, effort, and LIABILITY that goes into a cut out is why I do not do free cut outs. My insurance is not free and neither are the tools or my time.

I will always consider every case, so don’t hesitate to reach out. Just know that you may be referred to another beekeeper if you expect a free cut out🐝

Since quitting my 9-5 job to focus on bees, I have not slowed down!
In the past month, I’ve gone to GA TWICE, relocated over a dozen swarms, opened up my Trading Post, and much more.

However, I’ve canceled tons of scheduled events.

When I went to GA for family things, I knew I was going to miss out on so much down here in Florida.

I still have to reschedule about 4 classes, and I have to schedule about another 10 or 11.

I am SO sorry for those whose schedules were also thrown off because of my schedule interruption.

I will be rescheduling every one this week and we can get back into a groove.

I will NOT be taking any CUT OUT requests for the rest of June. I am just too busy. If you need a removal or relocation, I can only take on swarms at this time!
