✨ “The Lord is my strength and my shield…” – Psalm 28:7 ✨

And just like that… the OG lineup has officially finished strong 💪🐑

Our last ewe from the original flock said, “Don’t forget about me!” and delivered a beautiful set of twins to wrap things up.

These seasoned mommas really make it look easy… like, “Oh this? Just another day at the office.” Meanwhile we’re out here acting like it’s a full emergency every time 😅

But now… the torch has officially been passed.

From here on out, it’s all first-time moms.

Which means:
More pacing.
More checking.
More “is this normal??” moments.
And definitely more praying 🙏😂

We’re grateful for healthy lambs, thankful for experienced ewes that got us this far, and trusting the Lord as we head into the rookie season portion of lambing.

If you think about it, say a prayer for these first-time mommas… and maybe a couple for us too 🐑

Because things are about to get interesting. 🐑

Cuteness overload! This inquisitive little guy is only a couple hours old and already full of s***k! Love these Clun Forest lambs! 🐑

Forrest Frank Music
once said 🍋 “Life gave me some lemons, but my Jesus, He be makin’ lemonade.” 🍋

Alright… gather ‘round, because today was less “normal farm day” and more “biblical-level event” 😅

Our matriarch ewe #264—aka Dorthy—chose violence today.

She went into labor around 12:30, and by 1:15 we realized this was not going to be your standard, easy, “grab a coffee and watch from a distance” kind of delivery.

Nope.

Baby #1 decided to make its grand entrance… backwards.

So there we are—elbow deep, boots planted, praying hard—doing everything we can to help get this lamb out safely. By the grace of God, we got it done.

We barely had time to catch our breath when baby #2 lined up the normal way… but poor Dorthy looked like she just ran a marathon, so we stepped back in to help again.

At this point we’re thinking, “Alright… surely we’re done.”

Cue laughter.

Because out of nowhere—like a plot twist nobody asked for—OUT COMES #3.

Triplets. Because why not. 😂

What started as a “uh oh” turned into a full-blown “hold on Lord, we’re gonna need You for this one,” and He showed up every step of the way.

All three lambs are alive and healthy, Dorthy is doing well, and we’re standing here equal parts exhausted, amazed, and laughing at the chaos of it all.

Moral of the story:
We plan… God laughs… and then He blesses anyway.

Now if you need us, we’ll be recovering, praising, and bracing ourselves for whatever tomorrow decides to throw our way 🐑😂 🐑

You ever look around and think, “Yeah… this seems like a reasonable amount of responsibility”? 😅

Yeah… us neither.

In the middle of lambing season—because apparently sleep is overrated—we decided it would be a great idea to hatch out some quail too. You know… just to keep things interesting.

So now, on top of ewes lambing and babies hitting the ground, we’ve got tiny quail popping out like popcorn in the brooder 🐑🐣

Gluttons for punishment? Maybe.
Biting off more than we can chew? Also maybe.
But watching all this new life unfold at once… honestly, we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Pray for our sanity… and maybe our coffee supply ☕😂

✨ “Every good and perfect gift is from above…” – James 1:17 ✨

Well… lambing season is officially in full swing around here!

Clun Forest ewe #276—affectionately named Diane after my mom—decided she didn’t want to be left out and welcomed twins of her own today 🐑

Two more healthy lambs on the ground, and once again we’re reminded that no matter how much we plan and prepare, it’s the Lord who brings the increase.

We might be running on less sleep, but our hearts (and the pasture) are getting fuller by the day ❤️

Stay tuned… at this rate, it’s looking like the sheep are running the schedule now 😄 🐑

“Well… apparently I interrupted dress-up time.”

Walked into the barn and caught this one mid-outfit change 🤣

Not sure if we’re going for “runway ready” or “biblical shepherd chic,” but the commitment is impressive.

I don’t know who told them hay was an accessory… but here we are.

Farm life lesson of the day:
If you leave them alone long enough, they’ll find a way to entertain themselves… and make you question everything.

✨ “He makes everything beautiful in its time.” – Ecclesiastes 3:11 ✨

And just like that… lambing season is underway!

Our Clun Forest ewe #279 kicked things off today with twins—a darker little ram and a lighter ewe. Two tiny reminders that the His timing is always right on time.

Momma did great, babies are up and nursing, and we’re thankful for a smooth start to what we’re praying will be a blessed lambing season.

It never gets old watching new life hit the ground… each one a quiet testimony of provision, faithfulness, and the goodness of God.

Stick around—this is just the beginning 🐑

Throwback Thursday! 🐄

This was the moment everything got out of hand…

Nine years ago today we brought this guy home. Up until then, our “homestead” was just a handful of egg-laying chickens and some big ideas.

Then came Bullwinkle. 🫎
Yes… like the moose—because we already had a pony named Rocky. At that point, we weren’t building a farm… we were apparently casting a cartoon.

What we didn’t realize was this one decision would kick off everything.
Back then: chickens.
Now: a whole lot more animals, a dozen sheep, 2 cows, 3 horses, a bunch of quail, 4 children, a lot more work, and a whole lot more memories.

Lesson learned has most definitely been learned, and most often they were learned the hard way. Also, cows are the real gateway animal. 😅

What’s the funniest name you’ve ever given an animal?
