From 🥶🌧️🌞🥵 - things are really coming together at the Wolfeman's Plantz & Jamz homestead. I can’t believe I started half of these in a closet over winter! Here’s what we have on deck:

🌽 Kandy Sweet Korn Hybrid reinforced and 2x taller than 20 days ago - notice the pink corn silk

🍅 coming in nice with Early Girl, Beef Steak, Lemon Boy, Roma, and Grape varieties

🌶️ are slow to start with all the rain, but Lunchbox Orange, Habanero, and Carolina Reapers are starting to perk up

🎃🍈 Big Pumpkin, Turks Turban and other Ornamental gourds - Plus a few cantaloupe in the back yard

🪴 Lavender, Orange & Strawberry Mint, Sage, Basil, and Chives are doing great for herbs

I love being in the garden and patio with Heather Goodman and our fur family. It’s our own little paradise tucked away at 🏡

You may be shocked with my ancestry - but I’ve never planted a single potato in my entire life. The Norris side on my Grandma Jody’s tree aka my MIMA, are rolling in their Ulster graves with my shame! Great article detailing this process, and it looks like I just might have to try the Sweet & Yukon Gold varieties for fall!
🇮🇪 🥔 🍀

Normally, my potatoes would already be planted. (Caution: The correct time to plant potatoes varies by location.) But due to stitches in my arm (which prevented lifting or shoveling) and sooooop much rain, it didn't happen. Well, the stitches are gone and the weatherman is promising more sun, so last night, I prepped my chitted* potatoes. To do this:

Cut your seed potatoes into approximately egg-sized pieces. Each piece should have at least one "eye" (a raised spot where a "root" - really a stem - is starting to grow), but preferably two. Allow the cut up potatoes to sit for 2 days, so the cut edges develop a "skin" that help prevent rotting once the pieces are buried in soil.

Taking this extra step helps ensure a more bountiful harvest.

(* Chitting refers to giving your seed potatoes some light so they develop small eyes/roots; this has been shown to increase the harvest by about 20%.)

Aaaaand that’s a wrap on transplants, new soil, support, and anything else beyond planned maintenance for the rest of this week 🕺

36 new seedlings primarily Korn, Okra, Grape Tomatoes, and Collared Greens - were transferred to their new condo for a short stay tonight. For one objective - to get better, faster, stronger 🎤🪩 🎸

Clyde Frog III, Coconut Pete, and Treebeard, are all moved to the back, as I put up additional plastic sheeting plus a moving blanket for extra warmth. The Greenhouse Effect conditions and ventilation inside make it the PM Plant Spa. Also babe look - I found a use for the recently found window well cover. Genius Switch Always On 🤓

I’m really pleased with the variety of seeds I planted and my indoor gardening equipment from Ferry-Morse Home Gardening. I purchased my first heat mat a month ago at Sutherland’s, and was so pleased I wanted more like a Krazy Karen. So then I saw the grow light PLUS more mats at Rural King and said gimme that please and thank you. The quality, safety, efficiency, and simplicity for a first time indoor grower like me are the 👨‍🍳s 💋

Night all 😴 Sleep happy dreamz 🤠

The Hagpiper of Hamilton, who led the Haggi away from the small town in Scotland. The Haggi had taken over Hamilton and drank the bars dry, leading to infuriated locals asking for help from the famous Hagpiper and his magical bagpipes. This story was turned into a No1 Broadway hit musical entitled "Hamilton" telling the story of the Scottish hero.
