If you've ever bought bread from Rise & Flourish Bread Co and have taken a look at the label, you will find something special at the bottom. This is how it reads:
"I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty." John 6:35
Humanity suffers from a great, insatiable hunger. Don't we all seek to feed ourselves with feelings, pleasures, comfort and ease? With things that feel good, taste good, and make us look good. Because if we don't do that, we're told we'll fail. We won't be happy. We won't succeed.
A corresponding passage in the Old Testament reads:
"I denied myself nothing my eyes desired; I refused my heart no pleasure. My heart took delight in all my labor, and this was the reward for all my toil. Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun." Ecclesiates 2:10-11
Bread is good. Music is good. Friendship is good. Success is good! But outside of an eternal purpose, it is fleeting. If you're sick of working to an unsatisfactory end, I'd love to talk with you about bread that never goes bad.
Love, Kelsey the Baker
