Spent all day boiling sap Friday and my hand got pretty irritated from the heat and steam.

These photos were taken about 16 hours apart. I kept it simple—cleaned it up and used our unscented salve 3 times to keep it protected and hydrated while it recovered.

No crazy claims. Just what I actually use when my skin gets beat up.

A tiny entrepreneur is entering the marketplace 🌲💼

Beau, our 5 year old, told us he wants to learn how to sell things at our markets this year, so we’re giving him the full crash course in “how business actually works.”

These little fire starters are his first product. Each one is made with pinecones, pine needles, wood shavings, and soy wax… basically a little bundle of the Northwoods ready to light a campfire.

But this isn’t just about selling.

Along the way he’ll be learning:
• Cost of goods – what the materials actually cost
• Expenses – what it takes to make more
• Profit – what’s left after costs

He’ll have to set aside enough from his sales to buy more materials for the next batch. Whatever is left after that gets split between saving and spending.

Real lessons. Real responsibility. Real excitement.

While Sophia and Beau have been hard at work at Market on River, Tyler has been back at the homestead working on something new.

We’re excited to introduce our Family Tines Homestead Beard Oil – Northwoods Pipe.

This small-batch blend was crafted to nourish both beard and skin using high-quality oils that absorb well without feeling greasy.

🌲 Jojoba Oil – closely mimics your skin’s natural oils to keep your beard hydrated and balanced.

New soap alert!!!

This batch started the way most good things do around here — simple ingredients, a quiet kitchen, and a little patience.

We kept our same tallow base, slow rendered and carefully blended, then added raw honey. Honey has been used for generations in skin care because it naturally draws moisture to the skin and adds a richer, creamier lather.

The scent is lavender and frankincense — soft floral layered with warm resin. Calming, grounding, steady.

Nothing flashy. Just honest ingredients, poured and cut by hand, curing now and getting better every day.
