Update on Johanna 💚

Many of you have asked about an update on Johanna and why she has continued to be away from the store and social media recently. This past year has been an incredibly difficult journey for our family—physically, emotionally, and financially.

Also, those asking "how can we help?" We have never been people who ask for help easily. But we are learning that letting people in is part of the healing and part of God’s work. Additionally, we will be traveling to Mexico for treatment from May 5 through May 19 (full story in CaringBridge). Our three sons will be staying with Nina (Johanna’s Mom) while we are away for 2-week treatment. To support our family while we are away, we are organizing a MealTrain to help keep the boys fed. 📢Another Important Update from ReStyle & Co

Thoughts became ideas, ideas became dreams, and dreams became possibilities that eventually came true.

The last year we have been reflecting on everything we achieved, the challenges we overcame, and the journey God has led us on and how much we enjoyed along the way, it was worth every moment. Every memory we can cherish forever; therefore we are not sad to say goodbye, but rather rejoicing because it happened.

Change can be difficult yet beautiful, and worrisome yet hopeful—all at once.

After many meaningful years, we have decided to sell our Restyle and Co real estate properties.

What Johanna started as a small occasional sale back in 2007 has grown beyond our wildest expectations, encompassing our family, friends, and community.

Recent events have inspired us to slow down and enjoy life and family more fully. We are not selling the retail business itself at this time—unless a buyer wishes to continue our specific vision—ReStyle & Co Retail Sales may return in a different form in the future, we are continuing to let God guide us in this decision.

At this time, the ReStyle & Co shop is still open and will continue operating as usual until the real estate property sells and we begin this transition. We will share more updates as we know more.

The friends and memories we have made will always be in our hearts. We are endlessly grateful to our customers, vendors, family, and friends. Without your support, we would still be a small occasional sale.

📢 Important Update

After many meaningful years, we’ve made the decision not to host Midwest Market events in 2026.

Since 2016, Midwest Market has been so much more than a market. It’s been early mornings and long days, small businesses chasing big dreams, familiar faces returning season after season, and a community that showed up with so much heart.

We are endlessly grateful to our vendors, our shoppers, and everyone who supported Midwest Market over the years. What you helped create will always mean more to us than we can put into words.

✨️A little personal update from Neil:✨️

A lot of people have been asking about Johanna and why she has not been in the store (ReStyle & Co.) or on social media over the last few months. I’m going to try and share as much as possible with you but honestly this past year has been physically, emotionally, and financially challenging for our family.

You know Johanna doesn’t just dream to dream, she dreams to makes things happen...

In November 2024, we purchased another property, a small farm and moved again, adding our lake house to our Airbnbs. Unfortunately, after a year living at the farm, we discovered significant mold in the house at the farm. Our family had unknowingly been exposed during that time, and Johanna was affected the most.

Beginning last Summer, she started to show symptoms — fatigue, joint pain, brain fog, memory loss, depression, chest tightness, and other health concerns that progressively worsened, but seemed like stress and burnout. By early Fall, her condition had declined to the point that she was unable to work. During a trip to Texas to our Round Top store, she became so ill she had to fly home after just a few days.

After visiting many specialists at Mayo Rochester, we still had no answers. Eventually, further testing revealed toxic mold exposure, Lymes and co-infections. Testing of our house at the farm confirmed elevated mold levels.

In December we moved back into our lake house to remove our family from mold exposure. Johanna is now under the care of a holistic doctor and is beginning to see improvement, though recovery is expected to take 12–24 months.

We’re not sharing this for sympathy, but to provide context and ask for your prayers — for Johanna’s physical healing, emotional strength, and full restoration. We’re deeply grateful for your continued support during this season.
