Beneath the blaze of summer skies,
Where dusty tractors hum and rise,
The fields stretch gold from fence to tree,
Like waves upon a country sea.
From dusk till dark the baler rolls,
Turning hard work into winter’s rolls,
With sweat-stained hats and sunburned hands,
We work the earth our family tends.
The air smells sweet with drying hay,
And laughter carries through the day,
While cousins ride on wagon loads,
Down old familiar country roads.
At noon beneath the shade we meet,
With mason jars of tea so sweet,
Tomatoes fresh and picnic spread,
And stories shared with homemade bread.
Granddad points across the land,
A weathered glove upon his hand,
Telling tales of years gone by,
Of crops, hard rains, and hopeful skies.
And when the light begins to fade,
Still one more pass through rows is made,
As fireflies wake and shadows grow,
Across the fields we’ve come to know.
Because these moments, simple and true,
Are stitched in gold like morning dew—
