The heat in chili peppers comes from capsaicin, a compound found mainly in the pepper's white inner membrane. Beyond adding spice to your dishes, capsaicin has natural insecticidal and insect-repellent properties. Its irritating effects can discourage many insects from feeding on plants.

Parts to be used: Fruits
Mode of Preparation and Application:

Pound, extract juice and spray rate of 2 to 3 tablespoon per liter of water.

Target Pest: Rice moth, aphids and other insects in larval stage

The Department of Agriculture, through the National Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture Program (DA-NUPAP), invites everyone to the Urban Garden Harvest Festival on July 25, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Central Bloc, Nuvali, Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

Organized in partnership with Ayala Property Management Corporation (APMC) and Ramgo International Corporation, the festival celebrates the harvest from the Nuvali Edible Garden and highlights how urban agriculture can thrive through collaboration between the public and private sectors. The event promotes sustainable food production, healthier lifestyles, and greater appreciation for locally grown produce.

Families and visitors can enjoy a variety of engaging activities, including the Family Day Salad Run, Live Cooking Festival, Seed Planting for Kids, Pick-and-Go, and more.

Join us as we celebrate the harvest and discover how urban agriculture can bring fresh food, healthier lifestyles, and stronger communities closer to home.
