LILOAN
SITUATION REPORT NO. 11
December 27
Today and I had a meeting with VECO COO Raul Lucero and Aboitiz Power VP Jokin Aboitiz who gave the commitment that on or before December 31, the entire stretch of the National Highway from Yati to Cotcot will be energized. Today, a few areas and residences along or in the vicinity of the Highway have already been turned on. We thank the management and linemen of VECO and other power companies across the country who have been working double time on this.
Since the Highway forms the backbone of distribution of power from the VECO Substation in Consolacion, this stretch of road is the first to be energized.
Lateral areas and Barangays crisscrossing the Highway, including the North Coastal Road area, will follow. Per VECO’s initial assessment of our Barangays excluding the mountains, around 40% of their poles and lines have been damaged. Therefore 100% energization will prove to be a challenge. Nonetheless, VECO projects energization of 80% of their entire customer base in Metro Cebu by January 10 and 100% by January 31.
Thank you to all who sent in photos of problematic poles in your areas. I have submitted these to VECO, to our DRRM, LIPSEMO, and MENRO. Coordinated clearing in these areas and other interior parts of Liloan will be done as our LGU will do everything we can to help VECO do its job of repairing and energizing the lines in Liloan as effectively as possible.
Updates:
1. RICE
As of today, we have given 30,270 packs of 5 kilos of RICE for households and families across Liloan’s 14 Barangays. That’s 73% of all the households in Liloan. Distribution will continue tomorrow.
2. FREE WATER
A. Distribution of free water via our firetrucks and water tankers continued in Barangay Yati, Catarman, Calero, Cotcot, San Vicente, and in the mountains in Tabla and San Roque. This will continue in other Barangays tomorrow.
Each family can bring THREE (3) 5-gallon water containers.
