June 23-25, 2026 || Orientation on Fish Cage Aquaculture and Management🐟

BFAR Region 6 SAAD successfully conducted an Orientation on Fish Cage Aquaculture and Management for the Guinticgan Gagmay nga Mangingisda Association (GuGMA).

The participants learned the fundamentals of fish cage aquaculture, including proper management practices, feeding guidelines, culture strategies and techniques, cage construction, net fabrication, and harvesting methods. The activity concluded with the members' Pledge of Commitment, signifying their dedication to applying the knowledge and skills gained to improve their fish farming practices and livelihood.

Value-Adding Training Successfully Completed!

The BFAR SAAD Western Visayas successfully conducted a Value-Adding Training for the Guinticgan Gagmay nga Mangingisda Association (GuGMA) at the Guinticgan Gym, Brgy. Guinticgan, Carles, Iloilo.

Through this training, GuGMA members gained additional knowledge and practical skills in producing fish embutido and fish tempura. The activity aimed to enhance their capability in value-adding, enabling them to transform their fish catch into marketable products with higher economic value rather than selling them solely as raw fish.

To support their livelihood venture, starter kits were also provided to the association, allowing them to begin their value-added fish processing business.

GuGMA extends its heartfelt gratitude to BFAR Region 6 – SAAD Program for the training and provision of equipment, LGU Carles for its guidance and coordination, and Barangay Guinticgan for its unwavering support in making this activity a success.

Sa amat² kag pagbuligay ang ubra matapos nga may kalipay. Salamat gid sa aton mga myembro nga handa magbayanihan sa pag-ubra sang aton fish cage project halin sa BFAR SAAD Western Visayas. Kabay nga padayon kita sa pagbuligay kag pag-ugyon sa aton mga obligasyon.

Coordination meeting and orientation with BFAR SAAD Western Visayas coordinators and Municipal Agriculture Office - Carles, Iloilo project focal regarding the upcoming Bamboo Fish Cage project. And, Organization Assessment was done to assess the levelling status of GuGMA.
