In her recent article, our advocacy director Patmei Bello Ruivivar shares her insights on Rethinking and refusing sachets in the Philippines.

β€œI AM a recovering sachet user. I am not totally off sachet use yet because the Philippines is a sachet economy, but I am redesigning my life to minimize and totally refuse sachet packaging, Patmei writes.

I have been mindlessly consuming things without thinking of where the packaging goes after I throw it away. I just assumed someone would worry about it for me and take care of it. That’s why it seemed convenient. Because I do not have to think about the consequences, she added.

For years, we’ve been used to buying sachets because they seem cheap and convenient. But in reality, we end up spending more, and our communities end up with more plastic waste.

Every time we buy small packs, most of our money goes to big companies outside our barangay. The empty sachets stay with us. We pay more, and we clean up the mess.

Green Tayo offers a better option.

Instead of buying sachets every day, you can refill what you need in reusable containers. You save money on everyday essentials like dishwashing liquid, laundry detergent, and body wash. You reduce plastic waste at home. And your money stays within your community, supporting local jobs and local entrepreneurs.

Green Tayo products are all natural and nontoxic.

In Davao, this is already happening. Families are spending less on basic household products. Local stores are earning in a more sustainable way. Streets are getting cleaner. Communities are becoming stronger because people are choosing to buy differently.

Now it’s your turn to experience it.

Visit the Green Tayo Hub at 121 University Ave, Juna Subdivision, Matina, Davao City, 8000 Davao del Sur, Philippines.
