One day, they’ll be too big to carry.

Too big to fit on our laps.
Too big to hold our hand crossing the street.
Too big to fall asleep on our shoulder.

But here’s something I’ve learned:

No matter how big they get, they’ll never be too big for our love.

So when they ask for one more hug,
one more cuddle,
one more moment close to us,

say yes.

Because one day, we’ll miss being the place they run to. ❤️

Today, I noticed his school shoes were already getting dirty.

Scuff marks.
Dust.
Little scratches.

A small part of me wanted to clean them immediately.

But another part of me smiled.

Because those shoes tell a story.

They tell me he ran during recess.
He played with friends.
He explored.
He laughed.

Sometimes, the signs of a good day aren’t found in things that stay perfectly clean.

Sometimes, they’re found in dirty shoes, wrinkled uniforms, and tired little smiles at the end of the day.

And honestly?

I’ll take those memories over spotless shoes any day. ❤️

Every morning before school, I remind my boys:

“Don’t forget to drink water.”

Every afternoon when they get home, I check their water bottles.

Some days it’s empty.
Some days it’s barely touched.

And every single day, I ask the same question:

“Did you drink your water?”

It’s funny how motherhood changes over the years.

The diapers disappear.
The bottles disappear.
The preschool bags disappear.

But the worrying never does.

Did they eat?
Did they drink enough water?
Did they have a good day?

No matter how old they get, they’ll always be our babies.

And we’ll always be asking the same questions. ❤️

This morning, I reached for his backpack.

He smiled and said,

“It’s okay, Mommy. I can carry it.”

It wasn’t a big moment.

But somehow, it was.

Because one day they need help with everything.

Then one day, they start saying,

“I can do it.”

And that’s when you realize they’re growing up right in front of you. ❤️

Today, my son’s lunchbox came home empty.

No leftovers.
No untouched food.
No complaints.

Just an empty lunchbox.

It’s such a small thing, but somehow it made me smile.

Because behind that empty lunchbox is a little boy learning to be independent one meal at a time. ❤️

Today, my Grade 1 student cried.

We were a little late picking him up from school.

In preschool, dismissal was different. Parents waited right outside the classroom, and he could always see me immediately. There was never a moment of uncertainty.

But Grade 1 is different.

Today, when he came out and didn’t see me where he expected me to be, his little face searched the crowd. And when I finally arrived, the tears came.

My first reaction was guilt.

But as I held him, I realized this is part of the adjustment—not just for him, but for me too.

He’s learning that school is bigger now.
That routines change.
That sometimes Mom won’t be right there the second he steps out.

And I’m learning that no matter how big they’re getting, they still look for us.

One day, he’ll walk out of school without checking if I’m there.

But today, he did. ❤️

Today, for the first time in years, our house is quiet.

My youngest is now in Grade 1, staying in school for the whole day. His kuya is already in Grade 5.

This morning was the usual rush—uniforms, baon, reminders, hugs, and kisses goodbye.

Then suddenly, the house fell silent.

No little footsteps.
No “Mama, watch this!”
No random hugs in the middle of the day.

Just me and the quiet.

I’ve spent years looking forward to having more time for myself. But today, all I can think about is how quickly they’re growing up.

One day, you carry them everywhere.
Then one day, they walk into school without looking back.

And somehow, your heart isn’t quite ready for it. ❤️🥹

🌙✨ The Night Before the First Day of School

Uniforms ready ✔️
Shoes polished ✔️
Bags packed ✔️
Baon plans prepared ✔️

Pero si Nanay?

Hindi pa rin makatulog. 🥹

To all the moms and dads tonight:

Huminga tayo nang malalim.

Tomorrow, they’ll learn new lessons, make new friends, and create new memories.

At tayo naman, maghahanap ng bagong pagkakaabalahan habang nami-miss sila. 😭❤️

Good luck sa lahat ng little learners bukas!

“Anong grade na ang anak mo this school year?” 🎒📚❤️
