Mr. Daniel arrived thirty minutes before the event.

He was one of the earliest guests.

As he walked into the venue, he expected someone to receive him.

Nobody did.

He stood for a few minutes, unsure of where to go.

Eventually, he found a seat by himself.

Later that day, the event was praised.

The food was excellent.

The venue looked beautiful.

The programme went smoothly.

But Mr. Daniel's first impression had already been formed before any of those things happened.

Event experiences don't begin when the programme starts.

They begin the moment a guest arrives.

The voice on the other end of the phone sounded exhausted.

Yet there was one problem.

Nobody seemed to be coordinating the guest experience.

Who would welcome guests?

Who would guide them?

Who would manage seating?

Who would assist when questions started coming in?

It was a reminder that successful events are not built only with beautiful venues and great vendors.

They are built with people who ensure guests feel attended to from the moment they arrive.

Who carries the burden on the event day?

Yesterday, during a wedding planning consultation with a bride and her mother, I shared something many people overlook about event planning.

On the wedding day, the bride shouldn't be worrying about whether vendors have arrived.

The mother of the bride shouldn't be running around checking decorations, coordinating suppliers, or trying to solve unexpected issues.

They should be fully present, enjoying the moment they have spent months preparing for.

That's where the event planner comes in.

Our job is to carry the responsibility of coordination, logistics, follow-ups, and problem-solving so our clients don't have to.

While the family is making memories, we're managing timelines.

While guests are celebrating, we're ensuring things are happening as planned.

In many ways, event planning is about carrying burdens professionally so others can enjoy their special moments without stress.

Sometimes, the greatest value of an event planner is not what people see.

It's the peace of mind they feel.

"Where do you get the energy from?"

That was the question a friend asked me after I told her how I spent my day.

The truth is, I had just finished coordinating an event.

Like many event planners know, coordinating an event is not a sit-down job.

You're constantly moving.

One moment, you're speaking with the caterer about when food should be served.

The next moment, you're coordinating with the MC.

Then you're checking on vendors, monitoring timelines, solving unexpected issues, and making sure different parts of the event come together smoothly.

You are constantly thinking ahead.
Constantly paying attention.
Constantly making decisions.

By the end of the event, I had spent hours on my feet ensuring everything flowed as planned.

Most people would assume that after leaving the venue, I went home to rest.
I didn't.
That same night, I continued working on preparations for another event scheduled for the next day.

There were still things to create, plans to finalize, and details to put together.

So when my friend found out I was still working after spending the entire day coordinating an event, she asked:
"Where do you get the energy from?"
I smiled.

Because the answer wasn't energy.

It was PASSION!!

That experience reminded me of something I strongly believe:

In event planning, Passion must come before profit.
Yes, every business needs to generate income.
Yes, event planners deserve to be paid for the value they provide.
But if money becomes the only reason you do the work, it becomes difficult to sustain.

Event planning demands too much.
Too much time.
Too much attention.
Too much responsibility.
Too much problem-solving.
Too much sacrifice.

There are days when you're the first to arrive and the last to leave.

There are moments when everyone is enjoying the event while you're focused on making sure everything continues running smoothly.

If passion is absent, the pressure can quickly become overwhelming.

But when you genuinely love what you do, something changes.
You still feel tired.
You still work hard.
You still face challenges.
But you find a reason to keep going.

That conversation reminded me that what keeps many event professionals moving is not just the payment at the end.
It's the satisfaction of seeing an idea become a reality.
It's the joy of creating experiences.
It's the passion behind the work.
And sometimes, passion gives you energy that even sleep cannot explain.
