Lusaka in Pictures 🇿🇲 – My AWEC General Assembly Experience
I am still overflowing with gratitude and energy after attending the AWEC General Assembly in Lusaka, Zambia and making a dream stopover in Nairobi, Kenya. What an unforgettable week of learning, connection and pure inspiration.
The three-day General Assembly/Graduation (15th–17th April) brought together hundreds of brilliant women entrepreneurs from across Africa- fellows I have worked with virtually for the past year but finally met in person. From Nigeria to Kenya, Zimbabwe, South Africa and beyond the sisterhood became real.
Some highlights of this transformational experience
Panel Discussions – Especially the session on “Beyond the Founder: Creating Businesses That Last.” Hearing leaders break down sustainability, governance and long-term vision reshaped my thinking about scaling my company Royal Pearl Resources Ltd (Akoya Foods).
Learning Labs & Business Clinics – Deep dives into strategy, product development, finance, storytelling and systems. Practical tools I’ve already begun integrating into my work.
Networking at its Best – Meeting my AWEC sisters in real life was powerful and emotional. I even received my Forbes magazine delivery from Bevy, my South African AWEC sister, such a wholesome moment.
Cultural Night – Zambia treated us to incredible traditional performances, vibrant drums and dances that reminded me of the beauty and power of African culture.
Exploring Lusaka – My mentor from Singapore and my team had a trip with a relaxing cruise evening at East Park: laughter, stories and precious memories.
A Dream Stop in Nariobi – After longing to visit Kenya for years, I finally stepped foot in Nairobi, even though briefly. That moment alone was magical.
Thank you AWEC my heart is full.
