A highly acclaimed auto parts dealer, Mr. Emeka, in Lagos, had brought Chidike from his village to serve him for a decade, promising substantial compensation to enable Chidike to establish his own business. After serving diligently for 10 years without fault, Chidike expected to receive his settlement. However, Mr. Emeka allegedly concocted a scheme to evade payment, implicating Chidike in a f&ke transaction involving goods worth 120 million naira from China. Mr. Emeka arranged for Chidike to meet a man and sent him the 120 million naira to collect the supposed goods from a warehouse. Upon collecting the goods and delivering them to Mr. Emeka's shop, it was discovered that most of the contents were scraps, not the expected auto parts. Mr. Emeka then accvsed Chidike of theft, had him arrested, and detained for weeks until bail was posted. Chidike later tracked down the man involved, who confessed to the plot. In a fit of rage, Chidike went to Mr. Emeka's shop and fatally stabbed him. Chidike was apprehended, explained the circumstances leading to the act, but was charged, found guilty, and sentenced to life imprisonment.
