LET THE RENEWED HOPE STORY BE HEARD: TINUBU’S APPOINTEES FROM THE NORTH MUST TAKE THE MESSAGE TO THE GRASSROOT. 8th Oct. 2026

There are moments in the life of a nation when those entrusted with public responsibility must rise, speak with conviction and give citizens reasons to believe that tomorrow can be better than today. For President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s appointees, especially those from the North, that moment is now.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, has called on Ministers, Special Advisers, Chairmen and Chief Executive Officers of the Federal Government agencies to communicate the achievements and impact of the administration’s policies more effectively to Nigerians. The call, made at the Federal Appointees Strategic Summit in Abuja, which was widely reported by Nigerian newspapers.

The message has acquired greater political significance as the country approaches the 2027 presidential election As some newspapers had reported, heads of Federal Government agencies had commenced mobilisation for President Tinubu’s re-election, describing themselves as “foot soldiers of the Renewed Hope Agenda.” More recently, another paper reported that Senator Akume led North-Central political leaders launched a grassroots mobilisation campaign for Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima ahead of 2027.

This should be more than just a political activity. It should become a powerful opportunity to tell Nigerians what the Renewed Hope Agenda means in their daily lives.
Those appointed by President Tinubu, especially from the North, should be strategically positioned to communicate the positive reforms of the Tinubu led administration, present measurable achievements and demonstrate how government policies have been creating opportunities, strengthening institutions, improving infrastructure and repositioning the Nigerian economy.

The Northern Nigerian appointees must take the message beyond Abuja, to markets, farms, businesses, universities, local communities and homes at the communities level

The aspirations of the citizens must become the language of the campaign. The 2027 elections will ultimately belong to Nigerians. They will judge the administration by what they have seen, experienced and understood. Therefore, Tinubu’s appointees should not merely campaign for continuity, they must explain why continuity matters, defend the administration’s record with evidence and communicate its vision with confidence.

Now, is the time to take the Renewed Hope message to the people. Let the story be told.
Let the achievements speak. Let the vision be explained. And let the Nigerians be convinced that, the journey deserves another mandate.

Renewed Hope must not remain a government slogan. It must become a story Nigerians can see and feel.

YAN NATIONAL SPEAKER RACE: UBB CAMPAIGN PUTS INSTITUTIONAL RENEWAL AT CENTRE OF DEBATE Abuja. 7th October 2026

The race for the position of National Speaker of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN) is generating renewed discussion about the future direction, leadership and institutional development of the youth organisation. Among the candidates attracting attention is Rt. Hon. Amb. Umaru Bala Babayaro (UBB), whose campaign is presenting the contest as an opportunity to strengthen unity, rebuild confidence and reposition the Assembly for greater impact.

With the campaign theme, “The Time Is Now for the Rebirth of YAN,” the UBB Campaign Council says its candidate is offering a leadership approach centred on experience, preparedness, capacity and united progress. The campaign argues that leading a national youth institution requires more than ambition, stressing the importance of understanding the Assembly's structures, responsibilities and the diverse interests of its members.

Spokesman: Rt. Hon. Amb. Prince Evidence Dan-Akande For the UBB Campaign Council
According to the campaign council, UBB's experience and preparedness would enable him to provide purposeful leadership while working with delegates and members across the Assembly.

The campaign has also sought to shift the conversation away from personalities and towards the broader question of what members expect from the next leadership of YAN. It maintains that the leadership transition presents an opportunity to strengthen the institution, promote greater cooperation among members and create a renewed sense of confidence in the Assembly.

The emphasis on the “Rebirth of YAN” has therefore become a central feature of the UBB campaign, reflecting its call for a new chapter focused on institutional strengthening and collective progress.

However, the final decision rests with the accredited delegates of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria, National Headquarters, who are expected to determine through the established electoral process who will emerge as the next National Speaker.

As the contest gathers momentum, supporters of UBB are urging delegates to assess the candidates based on their experience, preparedness, capacity and vision for the future of the Assembly.

For the UBB Campaign Council, the message remains straightforward: the time is now for renewed trust, purposeful leadership and united progress in YAN. Candidate:
Rt. Hon. Amb. Umaru Bala Babayaro (UBB)

2027: AMINU AMINU TAKES STUDENT ACTIVISM TO JIGAWA SOUTH-WEST SENATE RACE

SARA, Jigawa State The 2027 contest for the Jigawa South-West Senatorial District has entered a new phase as Accord Party candidate, Comrade Aminu Aminu, took his campaign to the grassroots, formally launching his bid from his hometown of Sara in Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

The campaign launch brought supporters together in Sara and marked the beginning of Aminu’s effort to take his message across communities within the senatorial district ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The choice of Sara as the starting point also placed emphasis on Aminu’s grassroots background, with the candidate beginning his campaign from the community where his personal and political journey began. However, beyond the campaign activities, Aminu is presenting a political profile shaped by years of student activism, civil-society advocacy, journalism and political mobilisation.

A Political Scientist and journalist, Aminu holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Bayero University Kano, a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Policy and Administration from Bayero University Kano, and a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Administration from the Federal University Dutse.

His involvement in political and civic activities dates back to his years in student unionism.
Between 2000 and 2008, he participated actively in students’ union activities and represented Jigawa State at national conventions of the National Association of Nigerian Students, including conventions in Port Harcourt and Yola.

At Bayero University Kano, he served as Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Students’ Association, Chairman of the Students’ Union Government Congress and NANS Ex-Officio.
He also held leadership positions in several student and youth organisations, including National President of Students Independent Democrats, President of Students Movement for Good Governance, Jigawa State Coordinator of the Arewa Students Forum and Chairman of the Network for Justice at BUK.

During the 2007/2008 NANS Convention, Aminu emerged as a prominent northern student leader and presidential aspirant of the association. His student activism also included advocacy over the non-payment of scholarship allowances to Jigawa students, an issue that brought him into direct engagement with concerns affecting students and young people from the state.

That history now forms an important part of the narrative surrounding his 2027 senatorial bid. From student unionism and youth advocacy to civil-society engagement and partisan politics, Aminu is seeking to translate years of mobilisation and public advocacy into electoral politics.

His campaign launch in Sara therefore marks more than the opening of a political programme; it represents the beginning of an effort to take a long-standing activist profile into a wider electoral contest across Jigawa South-West.

As the 2027 political season develops, Aminu’s campaign will now move from its home base in Gwaram to the wider communities of the senatorial district, where issues including youth development, education, employment, community development and effective representation are expected to feature prominently in his campaign message.

FROM STUDENT ACTIVISM TO THE SENATE: Aminu Opens 2027 Campaign In Jigawa

SARA, Jigawa State The 2027 senatorial contest in Jigawa South-West is taking a new dimension with the emergence of Accord Party candidate, Comrade Aminu Aminu, who has formally commenced his campaign from his hometown of Sara in Gwaram Local Government Area.

Rather than presenting the campaign solely as a conventional political contest, Aminu is drawing on a political journey that began in student unionism, youth mobilisation and civil-society advocacy before moving into partisan politics.

His campaign message centres on youth empowerment, education, employment, community development and accountable representation, issues he says should receive greater attention in the representation of the senatorial district.

Aminu’s background includes leadership roles within student organisations at Bayero University Kano and the National Association of Nigerian Students. His profile also records involvement in youth and civil-society organisations, as well as journalism and political mobilisation.

His political activities have also extended to presidential campaign structures. According to his published profile, he participated in the Goodluck/Sambo, Buhari/Osinbajo and Tinubu/Shettima campaign structures, including a mobilisation role during the 2023 election cycle.

A Political Scientist and journalist, Aminu holds academic qualifications in Political Science and Public Policy and Administration from Bayero University Kano and the Federal University Dutse. He has also served as Treasurer of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Jigawa State Council.

The significance of his campaign launch in Sara therefore goes beyond the opening of another political campaign. It marks an attempt by a former student activist and civil-society organiser to translate years of organising, advocacy and grassroots engagement into electoral politics.

With the 2027 race now taking shape, Aminu's campaign will have to take its message from his home community in Gwaram to voters across the wider Jigawa South-West Senatorial District.

The campaign's progress will ultimately be measured not only by its launch activities, but by how effectively its message on youth development, education, employment and representation resonates with communities across the district.

NIGERIA AT 66: AREWA DEMOCRATIC YOUTH STAKEHOLDERS FORUM CALLS FOR UNITY, POWER ROTATION AND YOUTH INCLUSION October 1, 2026

The Arewa Democratic Youth Stakeholders Forum, led by its National President, Hon. Haruna Sardauna, CIPAG, has called for national unity, peaceful democratic participation and greater inclusion of young people as Nigeria marks its 66th Independence Anniversary.

In an Independence Day message, the Forum congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Federal Executive Council, the National Assembly, state governments and Nigerians at home and abroad.

The Forum said the 2027 general elections provide an opportunity to strengthen national unity and respect what it describes as the political understanding of power rotation between the North and South.

The Forum stated that, following the eight-year administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, it supports the continuation of the current administration under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for the 2027 presidential election.

The Forum also called for greater inclusion of Arewa youth in government programmes, leadership, employment, education, entrepreneurship and political participation.

It urged young Nigerians to participate actively in the democratic process, understand public policies, demand accountability and contribute positively to national development.

The Forum said its support for the administration should not be regarded as a blank cheque, stressing the need for fairness, responsiveness and equitable opportunities for young people across the country.

The statement also referenced President Tinubu's 66th Independence Day address, in which he said the administration was moving its focus from economic reforms toward shared prosperity, with emphasis on jobs, agriculture, industrial growth, infrastructure, education and opportunities for young Nigerians.

The Arewa Democratic Youth Stakeholders Forum called on Nigerians to reject political violence, ethnic hatred, religious intolerance and regional divisions ahead of the 2027 elections.

It reaffirmed its commitment to peace, national unity, democratic participation and greater opportunities for Nigerian youth.
