After our baby was born, my wife became obsessed with snapping back. Every day, she stared at her stomach like it had betrayed her.

I told her, “Babe, it took nine months to grow. Let it take its time to go down.”
She nodded. Then turned around and ordered a waist trainer the next day.

From the moment that thing arrived, peace left our house.

She wore it tight—like she was preparing for a boxing match. She’d struggle to sit, lie down, or even laugh. Breathing became a calculated task. But she refused to let go. “I need my flat tummy back,” she’d say. “No time to waste.”

I suggested warm water and ginger. She rolled her eyes. “Abeg, that one is old school.”

The only time she removed the waist trainer was to bathe. After that, boom—back on like body armor. I pitied her. But she insisted everything was “under control.”

Until that fateful Sunday.

We were invited to a friend’s outdoor birthday party. The sun was out. Music was loud. My wife wore this skin-tight jumpsuit—snatched waist, fine face, everything on point.

But we had just finished eating rice, stew, goat meat, and dodo at home. Heavy food. I raised my eyebrows. “You sure you want to wear that thing now?”

She waved me off. “I’m fine.”

We got to the party and were chatting with the celebrant when I heard the first sound.

Puuuuuuuuu.

Loud. Bold. No confusion. All eyes turned to my wife.

She looked down, her posture still like a statue, but that wasn’t the end.

Puu… puu… puu.

Short, sharp ones followed like mini fireworks—and then the smell arrived. It was bad. The kind that doesn’t just pass quietly but announces itself boldly and proudly.

She didn’t wait. She turned and headed straight to the car like someone being chased.

I stayed behind, offering quiet apologies. “Sorry, abeg. She’s been… under pressure.” Then I joined her in the car. We drove home in silence.

You keep saying her REACTIONS are too much. But have you ever asked yourself WHY she's reacting that way⁉️

A woman doesn't just become distant, emotional, or difficult for no reason. Most of the time, it's a response to how she's being TREATED.

If all you're giving her is disrespect, neglect, or acting like you don't care... then no, she's NOT the problem.

You can't point out her flaws while IGNORING your own. You can't call her "TOXIC" just because she's tired of being hurt.

She's not asking for perfection. She just wants to feel seen, valued, and RESPECTED.

Maybe the issue isn't her reactions, maybe it's your REFUSAL to take accountability.
