Understanding the Menstrual Cycle
The menstrual cycle is a natural cyclic process that prepares the female body for pregnancy each month. Understanding how it works helps girls and women better understand their bodies and take control of their health.
Normal cycle ranges between regular 21–35 days. Once it becomes irregular, it becomes a problem.
The 4 Phases of the Cycle includes (for 28 days cycle):
1️⃣ Menstrual Phase (Days 1–5): This is when bleeding occurs ie when the body sheds the lining of the uterus.
2️⃣ Follicular Phase (Days 1–13) : The body begins to prepare for ovulation and it's controlled by some hormones that help in maturation of eggs in the ovaries.
3️⃣ Ovulation (Around Day 14): This is when egg is released from the o***y and it is the most fertile period.
4️⃣ Luteal Phase (Days 15–28): If no fertilization occurs, hormone levels drop and the cycle starts again.
Understanding your cycle will help you to feel more in control of your body and help you know when there is issue in your reproductive health.
