DATE: MONDAY APRIL 20TH 2026

TOPIC: REVERSING HOPELESSNESS

MEMORISE:
But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. - (Psalm 3:3)

BIBLE READING: JOHN 5:2-9 (KJV)

2 Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.

3 In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.

4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.

5 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.

6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?

7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.

8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.

9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.

MESSAGE:
In today's Bible reading, a certain man, who had suffered from an infirmity for 38 years, had an encounter with Jesus. From his response to Jesus Christ's question, it was clear that he had lost all hope, but Jesus reversed his hopelessness when He commanded him to take up his bed and walk. In an instant, the 38-year infirmity disappeared, and his hopelessness vanished. I pray for you today that the Almighty God, who can reverse hopeless situations, will visit you today, and you shall receive a miracle, in Jesus' name.

When God wants to turn a fellow whom the world seems to have forsaken into a living testimony, He will arrange a divine encounter for the fellow. He will work it out in such a way that everyone around him or her will know that He is definitely at work.

Several years ago, I was travelling to Ilesha, a town in South-West Nigeria. Along the way, I saw a car that seemed to have broken down. As I approached it, I saw that it had an RCCG sticker on it. On taking a closer look, I saw that the person standing beside the car was a church member whom I knew. I also saw that she was pregnant. I asked her, "What's wrong with your car?" Immediately she saw me, she exclaimed, "Daddy! Is it really you I'm seeing? Oh God!" I asked her again, "Is there a problem with your car?" She replied, "Sir, don't worry about the car. I have a bigger problem." She then went on to tell me that the baby in her womb had not moved for the past six days, and the doctors had told her that they were going to evacuate the baby. After listening to her, I said, "In that case, I decree, baby, come back to life, in Jesus' name." Immediately, the baby started moving again. A few years ago, I visited one of our parishes in Europe, and that same baby whom the doctors wanted to evacuate from the woman's womb was the one playing the drums.

Beloved, I want you to know that nothing is impossible with God (Luke 1:37). If you are currently in the midst of a situation that seems hopeless, I want you to put your trust in the One who makes rivers in the desert (Isaiah 43:19). He will bring you out of that hopeless situation and give you victory where defeat seemed certain, in Jesus' name.

PRAYER POINT:
Father, please turn every hopeless situation in my life around for good, in Jesus' name.

HYMNAL: 21 MY HOPE IS BUILT ON NOTHING LESS

1 My hope is built on nothing less
than Jesus' blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
but wholly lean on Jesus' name.
Refrain:
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand:
all other ground is sinking sand;
all other ground is sinking sand.

2 When darkness veils his lovely face,
I rest on his unchanging grace;
in every high and stormy gale,
my anchor holds within the veil. [Refrain]

3 His oath, his covenant, his blood,
support me in the whelming flood;
when all around my soul gives way,
he then is all my hope and stay. [Refrain]

4 When he shall come with trumpet sound,
O may I then in him be found:
dressed in his righteousness alone,
faultless to stand before the throne. [Refrain]

TOPIC: REVERSING LAWS

MEMORISE:
O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever. - (Psalm 118:1)

BIBLE READING: MATTHEW 14:22-32 (KJV)

22 And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.

23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

24 But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.

25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.

26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.

27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.

29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.

31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

32 And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.

MESSAGE:
God made laws to control nature and the universe. However, these laws, along with every other thing that was created, were also made for His pleasure (Revelation 4:11). Whenever He wants, He can suspend the laws or reverse them to perform a miracle.

In today's Bible reading, Jesus persuaded His disciples to get into a ship and cross the sea to the other side while He went to a mountaintop to pray. By the time He came down from the mountain, the ship was already in the midst of the sea. Jesus then decided to suspend the law of gravity and walk on water to join His disciples. He didn't cancel the law; He only suspended it for a moment.

In (2 Kings 6:1-7), the sons of the prophets were cutting down wood by River Jordan, and the iron axe-head that one of them was using fell into the river and sank. Immediately, the man cried to Elisha, telling him that the axe-head was borrowed. Elisha then cut a piece of wood and threw it into the river. The wood that was supposed to float sank, and the iron axe-head floated to the surface. The Almighty God reversed the law of floatation just to perform a miracle. Likewise, in John 6:1-14, Jesus reversed the natural principle that causes things to reduce when you take out of them because He wanted to perform a miracle. When He gave His disciples the five loaves of bread and two fishes to share with the multitude, naturally speaking, the meal was meant to reduce as it was being distributed. However, because He had raised them in thanksgiving to the Father, the loaves and fishes multiplied as they were being handed out to the people.

Beloved, thanksgiving is a very powerful weapon that can cause God to suspend natural laws or reverse them on your behalf while also positioning you for tremendous multiplication. When Jesus gave thanks in John 6:11, the law of multiplication overruled the law of reduction. While grumblers and complainers experience destruction because of their murmurings (1 Corinthians 10:10), you shall experience multiplication and glorification if you engage in constant thanksgiving (Jeremiah 30:19). If you want God to suspend or reverse laws for your sake, I encourage you today to remember all that He has done and appreciate Him joyfully. I pray that the Lord will send help to you from above and reverse every law that is working against His purpose for your life, in Jesus' name.

ACTION POINT:
Think about all the things the Lord has done for you over the years, write them down, and begin to thank Him for them.

TOPIC: REVERSING OPPORTUNITIES

MEMORISE:
That then the LORD thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath scattered thee. - (Deuteronomy 30:3)

BIBLE READING: JOHN 21:15-19 (KJV)

15 So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.

16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me?
And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

18 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not.

19 This spake he, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me.

MESSAGE:
It is popularly said that an opportunity lost can never be regained. However, this can only be true when God decides to be silent about such opportunities. The moment God gets involved, lost opportunities can be regained.

In the 1960s, I was a games master at a school called Okeigbo/lfetedo Grammar School. The school received an invitation to participate in a competition in Akure, one of the state capitals in Western Nigeria, and I got talking with the host school's games master during the competition. Sometime later, I was admitted into the University of Lagos for my Master's degree, and I applied to the Federal Government for a scholarship. When a year passed without a response from the Federal Government, I assumed that I didn't get the scholarship, and I continued paying the fees myself. One day, while walking on the university campus, I saw the games master I had met in Akure over a year earlier. We got talking again, and he told me that he was now working with the Federal Ministry of Education. Then I said to him, "I applied for a scholarship with your ministry, and I did not get any response." He then told me that he remembered my application because I was the only one who applied for a postgraduate scholarship in mathematics. He said it was a unanimous decision to grant me the scholarship, and that the interview would have been a formality. To cut the story short, he said that he would see what he could do about it, and we parted ways. Two weeks later, I got a letter from the Federal Ministry of Education granting me a full scholarship that was backdated to the day I started my Master's programme. I decree that any good opportunity that you thought had been lost forever will be restored by the Almighty God, in Jesus' name.

In Matthew 26:69-75, Peter had the opportunity to stand for Christ; however, he lost it when he denied the Lord thrice. He was so heartbroken that he decided to return to fishing (John 21:3). However, Jesus stepped in and gave him another opportunity, as we see in today's Bible reading. After the Lord's intervention, the same man, who denied Jesus three times, boldly faced the rulers who killed the Lord and told them that he would not stop speaking about Him (Acts 4:8-13).

Beloved, have you lost valuable opportunities in the past? Ask God for mercy, and He will restore you and help you regain such opportunities.

PRAYER POINT:
Father, please give me a second chance and restore every good opportunity I have lost, in Jesus' name.

HYMNAL: 2 AMAZING GRACE

1 Amazing grace (how sweet the sound)
that saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
was blind, but now I see.

2 'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
and grace my fears relieved;
how precious did that grace appear
the hour I first believed!

3 Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come:
'tis grace has brought me safe thus far,
and grace will lead me home.

4 The Lord has promised good to me,
his word my hope secures;
he will my shield and portion be
as long as life endures.

5 Yes, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
and mortal life shall cease:
I shall possess, within the veil,
a life of joy and peace.

6 The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
the sun forbear to shine;
but God, who called me here below,
will be forever mine.

BIBLE READING: PSALM 112:1-9 (KJV)

1 Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.

2 His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.

3 Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever.

4 Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.

5 A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion.

6 Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance.

7 He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.

8 His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies.

9 He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honour.

MESSAGE:
When you encounter people who take all kinds of attacks without reacting, even when they have the ability to fight back and win, you must be careful not to offend them. Such people are meek, and when they commit their attackers to God, it is better for the attackers to apologise and seek to resolve the issue immediately. This is because the God who can heal and deliver can also kill and destroy. When God is fighting on someone's behalf, everyone who is against that fellow will be unable to handle the consequences.

A mother eagle once sent one of her eaglets to hunt for food. On its hunt, the eaglet saw a mother duck with her ducklings, grabbed one of them and took it to its mother. On returning to their nest, the mother eagle asked the eaglet about what the mother duck did when it took her duckling, and the eaglet said that she just looked at him and did nothing. Surprised, the mother eagle asked, "It didn't fight or make a fuss?" "No," the eaglet responded. Immediately, the mother eagle told the eaglet to return the duckling and hunt for another prey. The eaglet returned the duckling, and the mother duck looked on without reacting. Thereafter, the eaglet saw a mother hen with her chicks and grabbed one of them. When the eaglet took the chick home, its mother asked how the mother hen reacted. "She was furious and reacted fiercely," the eaglet replied. Then, the mother eagle said that they could now eat. When they finished eating, the eaglet asked its mother why she asked it to return the duckling to the quiet mother duck and why they ate the chick of the fierce mother hen. The mother eagle replied, "The hen has done all it can by shouting; however, the duck who didn't fight back has handed you over to God, and the sky isn't big enough for us to hide from God."

Beloved, keeping calm in the face of negative situations and quietly trusting in God is a strategy for living victoriously. In Psalm 46:10, God instructs you to be still and know that He is God. When you refuse to feel threatened by the devil's antics and quietly put your confidence in God and not your abilities, you will experience God's mighty power that will cause a turnaround in whatever negative circumstance you might be facing. Never give in to fear; trust quietly in God.

KEY POINT:
The best strategy to overcome negative situations is to ask God for help, trust Him, and remain calm as you await His intervention.

MEMORISE:
And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the LORD, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land. - (2 Kings 2:21)

BIBLE READING: 2 KINGS 5:20-27 (KJV)

20 But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, Behold, my master hath spared Naaman this Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought: but, as the LORD liveth, I will run after him, and take somewhat of him.

21 So Gehazi followed after Naaman. And when Naaman saw him running after him, he lighted down from the chariot to meet him, and said, Is all well?

22 And he said, All is well. My master hath sent me, saying, Behold, even now there be come to me from mount Ephraim two young men of the sons of the prophets: give them, I pray thee, a talent of silver, and two changes of garments.

23 And Naaman said, Be content, take two talents. And he urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of garments, and laid them upon two of his servants; and they bare them before him.

24 And when he came to the tower, he took them from their hand, and bestowed them in the house: and he let the men go, and they departed.

25 But he went in, and stood before his master. And Elisha said unto him, Whence comest thou, Gehazi? And he said, Thy servant went no whither.

26 And he said unto him, Went not mine heart with thee, when the man turned again from his chariot to meet thee? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants?

27 The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee, and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a l***r as white as snow.

MESSAGE:
In Mark 11:12-20, Jesus cursed a fig tree for not having fruit on it, and it dried up from its roots. I believe the detail that the tree dried up from its roots was added to let us know that curses attack roots; they always go root-deep.

Immediately after Jesus cursed the fig tree, the disciples could have looked behind them as they left the scene and discovered that its leaves were still green. I imagine that one of them could have said to himself, "Jesus missed this one because the leaves on the tree are still as green as ever." Little did they know that the curse was already taking effect from the tree's roots.

Beloved, be careful of curses, especially divine curses. If a man curses another man, it can be reversed by another man with a higher spiritual authority. However, when it is a divine curse, no one can reverse it, except God. There are several people who have been cursed but still look 'green'. For example, a fellow might break away from his or her local church in a malicious manner and still look fine on the outside; however, the fellow's roots might have been affected, and with time, the consequences will begin to manifest. If you remove a branch from a tree, it dies instantly; however, it is not immediately apparent. It is only after a while that it will start turning yellow before it eventually turns black. When it is yellow, people might think it is prosperous, only to discover later that it was actually dying.

In today's Bible reading, when Elisha pronounced a curse on Gehazi, he said that Naaman's leprosy would cleave to him and his seed forever. The curse went straight to the roots of his lineage such that any fellow who came from that lineage would carry the curse. In (2 Kings 2:19-22), the men of Jericho came to Elisha to tell him that their city looked beautiful, but they had severe problems. When they brought him the new cruse of salt he requested, he went straight to the source of their river so he could tackle the city's curse from its roots.

Child of God, are you experiencing the aftermath of a curse that you or someone in your lineage brought into the family? I speak to the roots of that curse now, and I decree that every inherited curse will cease to function in your life and family from this moment, in Jesus' name.

PRAYER POINT:
Lord, please remove any curse that might be operating in my family from its roots, in Jesus' name.

3 O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.

MESSAGE:
Over the past two days, I have discussed how important it is for parents to train their children in God's way and some of the things they must consciously do to achieve this. A poorly trained child often grows up to become a nuisance to society. However, when children are brought up in a godly manner, they grow up to become adults whom their parents can be proud of and good models for other people to emulate.

As I round off this series today, I would like to mention again that parents should teach their children God's word, ways, and principles at all times. It is not enough to teach and guide them occasionally; parents must train their children at all times. For example, parents must teach their children when they are in the house, away from home, and when they sit, stand, or lie down (Deuteronomy 6:5-9). I will discuss one other thing that parents must do at all times as part of their lifestyle, and this is showing gratitude.

In today's Bible reading, David said that he would bless the Lord at all times, and His praise shall continually be on his lips. This is one of the things that parents must do non-stop; they should continually praise the Lord. Some Christian homes are filled with grumbling, complaining, and all manner of negative talk. Raising children in such an atmosphere will condition them to have a negative mindset when they grow up to become adults. (1 Thessalonians 5:18) says that we should always give thanks to God in everything, regardless of whatever situation we find ourselves in. Parents should let gratitude flow from their lips continually so that their children can pick up that trait from them. Many of the problems in society today stem from the fact that there are too many ungrateful adults who have grown up with a sense of entitlement.

In Genesis 22:1-18, when Abraham was taking Isaac up Mount Moriah to offer him as a sacrifice to God, Isaac asked his father where the lamb for the sacrifice was. This shows that Isaac knew that no one should go to worship God empty-handed. He had learnt the art of worship and thanksgiving from his father and must have seen his father practice it many times.

Giving thanks always is a very important thing that every parent must do to train up their children in the way of the Lord. Parents who are not grateful and thankful should not expect their children to be.

KEY POINT:
Ungrateful parents usually raise ungrateful children.

MEMORISE:
O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps. - (Jeremiah 10:23)

BIBLE READING: JOHN 6:5-13 (KJV)

5 When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?

6 And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.

7 Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.

8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him,

9 There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?

10 And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.

11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.

12 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.

13 Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.

MESSAGE:
Today's Bible reading tells us about a boy who gave his lunch to Jesus. He must have been planning to eat it, but when he learnt that Jesus had a need for it, he surrendered it willingly. At the end of the day, 12 baskets of food remained. I once asked my children about their thoughts concerning what might have happened to the 12 baskets, and one of them said that since there were 12 apostles, each apostle must have taken a basket. I believe, however, that the 12 baskets were carried to the boy's house. The Bible tells us that everything returns to its source - this is why all waters return to the sea (Ecclesiastes 1:7). It is the one who sows who will reap. Because the boy chose to trust God with what he had, God revealed Himself as the More-Than-Sufficient One. When you commit your ways to the Lord and surrender all you have to Him, He will reveal Himself to you in ways that are beyond your wildest imagination.

In (1 Kings 17:8-16), the widow of Zarephath had only one meal left for her and her son to eat. She surrendered it to Elijah, and she never lacked throughout the famine. Likewise, the Bible says that God performed special miracles through Apostle Paul (Acts 19:11). He surrendered everything God gave him back to the Lord, and God honoured his absolute surrender by making him one of the greatest apostles (2 Corinthians 12:11-12). I want to encourage you not to struggle with God over your life. Surrender to Him completely, and I assure you that your testimony will be that it is a good thing to trust in the Lord.

Surrendering to God begins with giving your heart to Him completely. God will either be Lord of all, or He will not be Lord at all. He always comes to take charge and take over, and those who are willing to let Him be God experience His full support, protection, and help. They also enjoy unprecedented and wholesome victories in their lives.

Beloved, let God have it all. Today's memory verse tells us that it is not in man to direct his steps. Since you are limited, why not hand everything over to the Unlimited God who can bring out the best from your life? He is faithful and able to keep everything that is committed into His care.

PRAYER POINT:
Father, I give you the full liberty to take charge of my life and affairs, in Jesus' name.

HYMNAL: 23 ALL TO JESUS I SURRENDER

1 All to Jesus I surrender,
All to Him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust Him,
In His presence daily live.
Refrain:
I surrender all, I surrender all;
All to Thee, my blessed Savior,
I surrender all.

2 All to Jesus I surrender,
Make me, Savior, wholly Thine;
Let me feel Thy Holy Spirit,
Truly know that Thou art mine. [Refrain]

3 All to Jesus I surrender,
Lord, I give myself to Thee;
Fill me with Thy love and power,
Let Thy blessing fall on me. [Refrain]
