A PASTOR'S CONFESSION (5)
After Tabitha left, I felt relieved, her presence ignited a feeling I hated. Later on in the evening, Tricia gone on her usual tarry night for the sister, leaving me all alone at home. I sat on the couch reading the book of Romans. I was only on shorts and polo. A knock came on my door and I got up to answer, hoping it'll be Tricia— perhaps she forgot her lamp or her favorite scarf. But to my utter dismay, I opened and saw Tabitha just in front of me!
" sister Tabitha, what..what are you doing here? You didn't inform me you were coming."
" oh daddy, she stepped in, I came to see you and oh I made your favorite Oha soup!" I gasped, even if I refused her coming to my house, I couldn't refuse Oha soup. When it came to preparation, Tabitha knew how to cook it to taste— unlike Tricia who rushes everything over.
" oh really. I smiled. Bring it on. I said and closed the door, My eyes looking at the bag of flask. What could I do without you, sister Tabi."
" oh it's nothing dad, by the way I'll just turn it into a plate and serve you at the dining table." Said Tabitha.
" no problem then I'll be waiting, thank you so much." I said gratefully and watched her disappear into the kitchen.
After enjoying the delicious Oha soup with amala, I felt like a lion who'd conquered the jungle and was now tired and needed rest. But I dipped my hands in my pocket for some cash as her T fare home. All of the sudden I heard lightening and it began to rain! Rain at this time? In this season? There was no way I could let her out in the heavy rain, she had to pass a night.
I gave her one of the guest rooms to sleep. Meanwhile, I climb into bed hoarding that feeling that comes when it rains heavily. I turned and turned in bed, snippet of Tabitha kept flashing. I literally heard the sound of rain hitting on the roof and felt chilly....and hard
