We are alive! These bees be Minnesota-tough. 🐝❄️

If you look close, it can look pretty grim on the landing board this time of year. Winter casualties at the entrance and even a stray abdomen or two—those are just signs of mid-winter house cleaning. Despite the mess, the hive is alive and thriving. This Colorado-born colony is making its way through its first Bold North winter. This week is the warmest we’ve seen since November, and the girls are thrilled to finally get the wheels turning again with their first cleansing flights of the year.

It might even get warm enough to peek inside the hive soon. 🤞🏼

Colorado-born, Minnesota tough. 🏔️➡️❄️

This hive was born in the Rockies, but they just earned their stripes as true Minnesotans. They’ve made it through their first winter in Saint Paul! (So far, of course. But hopefully the deepest cold has passed.)

We caught their first cleansing flight of the year today—seeing them take to the skies after months of clustering is the ultimate win for any backyard beekeeper. One survivor hive down, a whole spring of “Big Bee Energy” to go. 🐝💪

Hey, Pollen Nation!

We are beyond excited to announce that Big Bee Energy will be making a beeline to the 17th Annual Parker Honey Festival on Sunday, August 4! Join us from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at O’Brien Park for a day that promises to be as sweet as honey.

We’ll be showcasing our finest honey, beeswax candles, and an array of merch to take home with you. But that’s not all – we’re bringing along our incredible observation hive, so you can see our hardworking bees in action. It's a hive of activity you won't want to miss!

We’re thrilled to be part of this festival, and we’d love for you to come down and hang out with us. While you’re there, don’t forget to vote for us for the best honey of the festival. We came in second place last year, and with your support, we’re hoping to be number one this time around!

So, mark your calendars and prepare for a honey of a time. Swing by our booth, say hello, and help us celebrate the amazing world of bees. We can’t wait to see you there!
