Edeni - Co-Creating a community on an organic farm in Nyandarua that is home to the Edeni organic cotton knitwear brand

Mama Organic Mboga runs Little Eden Organics, a market garden business located in Ndaragwa, Nyandarua County. We started growing organic vegetables for direct sale to the end consumer in November 2014. We sell greenhouse tomatoes, capsicums and cucumbers as well as three varieties of kales, swiss chard, two varieties of cabbage, garden peas, beetroot, courgettes, four varieties of lettuce, coriander, parsley, sage, rosemary, thyme, arugula, basil, mint, oregano and grown in the open fields. We also grow African indigenous vegetables such as managu, terere, saget and mitoo.

Of course we went back to that place where we had found an Abyssinian gooseberry tree. A passerby couldn't believe his eyes and took his hat off to Charles and Tabitha. Now we have pots of yummy jam to keep us going. The life😁

It's shearing season so yesterday Tabitha and I went to buy raw wool for spinning from a buddy of ours up in Scheme. On our way back down to Ndaragwa Tabitha squeeled "Stop! Ngambura!" I hit the brakes.

Tabitha told me that when they were children, and she and her sibblings would be sent off herding for the whole day, they would feed on wild fruit such as ngambura (Abyssinian gooseberry), Mubiru (Vangueria madagascariensis), Ngawa (Carissa edulis), Ndare (Rubus apetalus), Wild raspberries, and Nathi (Cape gooseberry) to their fill, going home only for the evening meal. She told me that children even picked wild fruit to carry to school for lunch.

Anyway, we came back and made the most yummy jam😋
