24 hrs from when it stated raining. We may get lucky...

Those seeds were planted some time ago, but the lack of rain has been ridiculous and as a result, no movement on the seeds.

We've had rain! Yeah baby! And look what's popped up?

Everyone keep your fingers crossed...

P.s. I don't think I ever told you what seeds we planted. They are Lucerne (also known as Alpha Alpha). We planted this as its drought tolerant and produces a high amount of dry matter and high protein content. This should make some good silage - if it grows!

As an update with my electric fencing to keep pigs in...

Well they are definitely getting a shock, but they appear not to give 'two hoots'. As a result, we have gone back to 'old style fencing'- like my daddy does ;) - STUFF THE WHOLE!

That will keep the blitters in..

It might in fact be rain.

Although being Welsh, I am not sure I would describe it as rain... maybe a light sprinkle that has tickled the ground...?! But the night is young, we may have some more.

Today I have spent a lot of time fixing pig fencing! I even applied more fencing to try and keep the blighters in...

It's hot. Full week of pure heat with no rain in sight!

We were supposed to have rain, but nothing has comes yet. We won't talk about those seeds we have put in. Sore Subject...

The more time I spend with pigs, the more I think I actually might be related.. in this heat, I wish I was soaking in a cold bath (maybe not muddy) with a beer in my hand...

As you may have realised some of the pigs are watered using these, known as IBC's. (Intermediate Bulk Container). We don't have water across the entire farm (yet!) So in the meantime have these to get water to all corners for the pigs.
As you have probably realised, between me and Mr S, we have broken quite a few in the last few months.
With this extreme heat, these have become a priority. So the two of us have agreed (which is abnornal) to get some more!
8 new IBC's...
What do you think - who will damage this first one???

And finally, wrapped. First silage in for 2026.

Thank goodness- as we are running out! No rain is causing havoc for the cattle! No grass out the field!!
