Strawberry season is one of the sweetest moments in the Kentish calendar, and this indulgent trifle makes the most of every berry.

Weā€™ve given this classic summer dessert a local twist, swapping traditional sherry for English sparkling wine (we used the delicious .folc) and layering it with homemade vanilla custard, strawberry compote, whipped cream and plenty of fresh Kent strawberries.

Best of all? It needs to be made ahead, making it the perfect centrepiece for barbecues, garden gatherings and long summer lunches.
