*** Update - All Gone! ***

We will have more in a few weeks we hope 🙂

Thank you to everyone who has collected in short notice.

10 X 500g bags of Rhubarb collected, washed, cut, bagged and frozen to keep freshness in.

£2.50 a bag

First come first served 🙂

All funds go towards feeding our chickens and ducks as well as their upkeep 🙂

Just a little update from us, our eggs will likely slow down for a week or so as we have made the decision to knock down our chicken coop that we inherited when we moved to our new plot last year.

We have made a temporary coop for our boys and girls but this will have an impact on egg production.

We will of course keep you updated 🙂

In the meantime, our Rhubarb is almost ready for its 2nd picking, we have Earlies, 2nd Earlies and main crop potatoes in so they should be ready late summer/early autumn and we have our Shallots being planted this week.

Our Strawberries and Raspberries are looking very healthy and our amazing apple tree is flowering well 🙂

Meet Bruce… our “tough” cockerel 🐓💛

He’s been having a bit of a disagreement with the other lad while they sort out the pecking order… so naturally, he came for a cuddle break 🥺

Next thing we know—he’s climbed up for a shoulder perch, tucked himself in, wrapped a wing round me like a little hug… and fell asleep 😭😂

Now, anyone who knows cockerels will tell you this is not normal behaviour… a lot of them can be quite feisty and will happily try their luck having a go at you to prove who’s boss 😅

But not Bruce… soft, sensitive, and clearly convinced he’s a lap dog 💕

Allotment rule #1: even the boss birds need a cuddle sometimes 🐔👑

Start the week with a few egg-citing facts from our feathered friends 🥚✨

🐔 Chickens can recognise over 100 faces – so yes, they definitely know who brings the food 😄🐔 They even dream while they sleep 😴
🐔 And they do a cute little happy dance when they find tasty treats 💃

🦆 Duck feathers are naturally waterproof – built-in raincoats! ☔
🦆 They can see almost all the way around them 👀
🦆 And they sometimes sleep with one eye open… always on guard!
