Alive and Well Nutrition, Lifestyle and Fitness Consulting is owned and operated by Rhonda Eden and is based in Kamloops, British Columbia. She is also an athlete, and ACSM certified Personal Trainer. Rhonda is very passionate about educating individuals on their road to optimal health & wellness through nutrition and lifestyle. Rhonda is a triathlete and her highlights in this sport are completing her first triathlon in 2003 after losing 90lbs, completing Ironman Canada in 2010, and most recently, reacing the podium at the Victoria Half Ironman. She has also run a number of running races including numerous half marathons and a full marathon, and has trained with the masters swim club in Kamloops. Rhonda also enjoys mountain biking, hiking, snow shoeing and cross country skiing. She did her first cross country ski race in February 2006. Rhonda offers one-on-one nutrition consulting and fitness programs, group/corporate education, cooking classes, family nutritional/fitness planning, grocery tours etc.

Facebook asks me what I have been up to.......

Well, the honest answer to that is trying to get back to practicing what I preach. It has been a hard summer and self care definitely went out the window for me.....yes, I don't always listen to myself!! My very wise aunt, and dear friend Donna Eden told me on more than one occasion that she hoped I was taking care of myself......still didn't listen.

So fall has come and life has gotten back to it's crazy self and in some ways it has been extremely comforting to at least be back to "normal!"

Now I need to slowly and methodically get back to self care, and just as I tell my clients, I have done the following:

1. Set some goals which I feel are realistic
2. Talked to a couple very good friends and use them as support
3. Taking time each night to read a bit or stretch

I am breathing A LOT!!

Honesty for a Friday night :)

I am hosting 3 nutrition/exercise seminars this fall at the TCC. The first one is MOVE IT TO LOSE IT, and it happens on September 25, from 6:30-8:0 at the Tournament Capital Centre

"Challenge your beliefs around weight control! Learn how the inner workings of our body (digestion, hormones, and chemicals) affect weight loss. Understand the concept of calories in versus calories out and exercise guidelines as they relate to weight control."

As well there will be 2 more:

October 16 - Stop the Diet Mentality
November 6 - Goal Setting and Program Design

Don't forget that the regular fitness schedule for classes at the Tournament Capital Centre begins the week of September 19. Go to my website to see what I am teaching this fall, www.aliveandwellforlife.ca and then register either online or at the Tournament Capital Centre.

There are 4 spin classes to choose from for all abilities including a one new one on Wednesday mornings at 6:15 - High Intensity Spin, 45minutes.

Another new class I am teaching is Back to Basics - a strength class for those new to the weight room or just getting back into it after being away for awhile.

The Fall mini-session for fitness classes starts next week. The mini-session classes are free for those that have monthly or annual passes to TCC. The classes for next week are on first come first serve basis and I am test driving my new High Intensity Spin class as part of that. Come check out High Intensity Spin next Wednesday bright and early - 6:15-7:00am.

2 pots of chicken barley soup, 2 pots of chili, 1 pot of spaghetti sauce, 2 banana chocolate chip loaves, 2 different energy ball recipes and prepped for dinners until Thursday!

Eden says, "Well I guess school is here! Mom has tons of food in the freezer and she is 2 dinners ahead minimum!!" Eden is right, school is here and the crazy will begin and I am going to be ready so that feeding my family good nutritious food is a priority....and it is one less things for me to have to worry about - at least for a little while.

This very active family goes through A LOT of food!!

Oh Wow, it has been some time since I have posted on my business page. Summer is just about over and that means fall programming for my fitness class at the Tournament Capital Centre will start up again. Registration for classes begins August 21 so get signed up for your favorite classes quickly as classes fill up fast. It is also very important to get signed up quickly for classes as classes will be cancelled one week prior to the start date if they don't have the required minimums to run the class. I cannot tell you how many times a class gets cancelled only to have people complain that they were going to sign up but hadn't gotten around to it.

I look forward to teaching again, both classes I have been teaching for some time along with some new classes.

Only 8 days until my seminar at the TCC - Disordered Eating - Stop the Diet Mentality. Get registered now as you need to pre-register. Either register at TCC or online on the City of Kamloops Activity Guide. Once you get to the site click on ezreg, then program registration. The course is under Fitness In Motion, Adult and it is called Workshop - Disordered Eating - Stop the Diet Mentality. If you call the TCC to register use the name as above.

Such a worthwhile topic. So many people struggle with making a lifestyle change and this workshop talks about the various eating styles and how to strategize around the different obstacles we have getting rid of the diet mentality and listening to our bodies cues for hunger and satiety.

No pictures today but that was another whirlwind day of activity, kids school work, getting ready for Eden to race in the spring sprint triathlon tomorrow and cooking!! So much to do this weekend that I contemplated not going for a bike ride this morning but I put those thoughts away and had a fabulous road ride in the sun with some fabulous women.

Then home to help Eden with her last big school project for the year and to cook for the next 2 weeks. Next weekend is a swim meet in Kelowna so I had to be extra organized this week to be able to come home Sunday night and be ready to hit the week as I won't have time to cook next weekend.

I think we are ready to go - Chicken Tortilla soup, muffins and cookies for the freezer for not this week coming up but next week, cue stunned face.

Swim meet food check - chicken tortilla soup, muffins, cookies, power balls, and thai chicken soup in the freezer and my amazing mom to fill in some other blanks - ready to make sure Eden is fueled well to swim her best and play hard with her friends.

Ready to go for this week - chocolate quinoa cake and cookies for snacks, spaghetti sauce, kale chips, and lots of veggies for salads this week.

Tomorrow is the spring sprint and Eden is racing...I am an excited Mom!

Can I relax now ;)?!
