Coffee + Art ☕️🇭🇳

This coffee comes from COMSA, a collective in Marcala that’s been doing things differently for over two decades. What started as a small group of farmers coming together to move away from conventional coffee has grown into a community of over 1,500 producers working through organic, regenerative practices and shared knowledge.

Their approach goes beyond farming. Through a philosophy rooted in education, soil health, and long-term thinking, COMSA invests in both the land and the people behind it, building systems that support future generations as much as the current harvest.

In the cup, this lot feels warm and familiar, caramelized banana, a bright mandarin lift, and a soft chamomile finish that lingers gently.

About the Artist 🎨

Born and raised in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, Rodolfo was scribbling on walls from the moment he could hold a crayon. His love for illustration led him into the worlds of graphic design, photography, and animation. After graduating with a BFA in Graphic Design in the U.S., he returned to Honduras and dove deep into the world of coffee. This new obsession helped him learn more about the Mesoamerican people of Honduras, which would later become a pillar of his illustration work. He now lives in Toronto, where he continues to make great work and more importantly, drink great coffee.

Remembering past collaborations 💛
Coffee + Art Spotlight: Colombia 🇨🇴☕️

Sourced from 25 smallholder farmers across Huila, Colombia, this lot was handled with real intention, hand-picked cherries, 45–50 hours of fermentation, fully washed, then slowly sun-dried. Pink Bourbon’s process isn’t easy. Ripeness takes discernment, placement in the field matters, and every step asks for care.

🦋 About the Art

“I’ve always loved spotting butterflies in Colombia, even before knowing it held the world’s most. The varieties are astounding: hallucinating transparencies, brightly coloured bodies, geometries that mystify. I first saw the Morfo Azul after a long hike in the Sierra Nevada. We cooled off beneath a waterfall when two appeared, illuminated by the same warm light that made the river flicker like gold. Their wings, wide as my hand, were first iridescent cobalt, then a glistening cerulean, then stark, midnight blue.

This paper collage dreams of butterflies that may or may not exist, representing the supernatural and often magical realism of my country.” - Laura Rojas

Coffee + Art spotlight: Ecuador 🇪🇨☕🎨

This coffee comes from Finca La Marquesa located at 1650 masl in San Pedro de Vilcabamba, Loja, Ecuador. Led by Ximena León and Hubert Ontaneda, the farm is known for its commitment to cultivating high-quality, experimental microlots using innovative processes like carbonic maceration and controlled drying.

With dry mountain air, rich biodiversity, and unique soil composition, this region offers ideal conditions for slow cherry maturation and complex flavor development, especially in the Sidra varietal featured in this release.

For the label, we had the honor of collaborating with Alejandra .artdesign a visual artist and interior designer from Quito. Her work explores the connection between nature, feminine energy, and emotion, inviting warmth, reflection, and presence through organic forms and gentle palettes.

Alejandra’s relationship with kazkara runs deep. She helped shape our visual identity from the very beginning, including the design of our current space. She recently visited Hazel Park to see the roastery come to life and connect with the community that now holds a piece of this story.

Find more of her original work on our retail shelf at the store! 🌿💛
