This Sunday is National Indigenous Peoples day. This day is celebrated annually on the summer solstice and honors the rich cultures, traditions, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples
This Saturday June 20, the K'ómoks First Nation and their community and cultural partners have put together a spectacular FREE event (2-9 PM at the CV Exhibition Grounds) with something for everyone — interactive Youth and Elder Zones, cultural displays, guided walks to the Tsolum River, live screen printing, storytelling, traditional salmon BBQ, over 30 Indigenous craft vendors, and live music from world class Indigenous artists.
At the market this Saturday we will be holding a ceremony to honour and celebrate this day.
While at the market make sure to check out Rachel Jannati Artistry (4 Sacred Skincare) who creates and shares indigenous, plant-based medicine through a rich and healing skincare line, along with our healing salves and balms. Although her product is not yet at the market, Natasha from Minwaadizi Farm (part of Comox Valley Organic Cooperative) will have some delicious organic produce later in the season.
After the market, make sure that you return the CV Exhibition Grounds to check out this great event.
