You and Me, Always
My Naknak,
I still remember the first time I saw you—tiny, warm, and so fragile in my arms. You didn’t know it yet, but from that day forward, you became my anchor, my little reason to wake up each morning with purpose.
When you were little, you had this habit of falling asleep only with my arm around your neck and your tiny fingers gently pinching my armpit. It was your way of saying, “I’m safe here, Mama.” And in those quiet nights, I felt like the luckiest mom alive.
I remember how you wouldn’t want me to buy the things you liked because you thought they were too expensive. But I would secretly buy them anyway. You ended up with a garage full of toys—not because it’s about the toys, but because it’s my way of telling you, I want to give you everything I can.
We’ve been through so much together. Remember the times when you’d get sick and I’d whisper, “I wish I could take it all from you”—and you’d cry and say, “Nooo, Mama,I dont want you to be sick” and your eyes full of tears .Even then, your love was selfless.
We’ve ridden my little Scoopy to graduate school, you sitting in front of my bike as if it was the most natural thing in the world. In my classroom,you would just quietly listened or ,play your ipad. My classmates joked you’d graduate Doctoral with us… and at 9 years old, you did—walking that stage right beside me. That’s how inseparable we’ve always been. I wont let anyone borrow you- even your aunts! I would always be nervous for a minute that you will be away from me.And they would call me praning mom:)
You’ve always had this protective heart. Like that time you had your first crush—you refused to tell me who she was because you were scared I’d be hurt, since I once told you I was your only girlfriend. You kept it a secret for as long as you could… but in the end, I still got you to confess. And it made me smile, not because of the crush, but because of the way you always protect my heart.
We’ve traveled far together—across cities, oceans, and even dreams. We faced struggles in the US that tested us in ways I never saw coming. There were days of uncertainty, tears, and questions without answers. But those moments, as hard as they were, taught us more about courage, resilience, and faith than any comfort ever could.
Now you’re grown, chasing your own dreams. I see you with your coding projects, your eyes lighting up when something works. I may not always approve when it takes too much of your time, but that’s only because my love for you makes me want the best in every part of your life.
You have been my rescue, my teammate, my “you and me against the world” since day one. And even now, as you step further into your own path, please remember—nothing has changed. It’s still you and me. Always.
