We're so excited to be back at Devonport Farmers Market this Saturday! Hope to see you there...

Meanwhile, please enjoy pics of our new gateway with hand woven hazel, and one of our first waratah flower buds. Super excited to see how well they flower - they've been sun-deprived (which we've partially resolved) and need a serious prune, which, for the health of them, can't be done till after they've flowered. Hoping with some TLC over the next few years they'll make a comeback......

We're back and straight into fencing followed by fencing of a different kind. Wattle fence panel - made from hazelnut either side of the gate. Only half way through one side but it's already incredibly strong.... This type of fencing dates back to at least the iron age.

***PSA*** We won't be at the next few markets due to an unexpected trip to the UK.

The next market we'll attend will be September 26 at Devonport Farmers Market, then back to the regular routine of Wynyard foreshore markets one week, then Devonport the next, with some new and exciting items...

In the meantime l, here are some hazelnut branches that will feature on one of our latest projects at the farm - pics to follow when it's done.

❤️

Had a great day yesterday completing the last few practical elements of my food safety supervision skills course so that we can offer a greater range of deliciousness.

The other people attending were all lovely and the teacher was fun, interesting and engaging. A nice surprise was that I got to make some great contacts as well

It was interesting to follow the steps food goes through from delivery to serving, and how to keep it safe throughout.

Was a wild and windy day at the market yesterday! We still had a wonderful time and are absolutely loving the community of stall holders we've been getting to know,....

In other news, these delicious things were an absolute hit. I lost count of how many people came back and bought more after they'd purchased one and tried it.

It always makes our day when people make a point of coming back to tell us how much they enjoyed our items.....

Look at those colours! Super excited to be at Devonport Farmers Market again tomorrow - we've got some wonderful marmalades again this week:

~ Seville and blood orange with a hint of jalapeno
~Orange and Preolenna scrumpy
~ Lime and native sea parsley
~ Blood orange, kunzea and leatherwood honey
~ Lime, ginger and star anise
~ Lemon and pepperberry
~ Seville orange with Irish whiskey

AND for the first time tomorrow we'll be debuting our GORGEOUS new sweet thing - is it a cake? Is it a biscuit? It's impossible to decide but with chestnut and spelt flour, spices and a lemon glaze with candied mixed citrus peel, they had better sell out because I cannot be trusted around them!

Honestly one of the yummiest things I've ever baked.

We'll also have our usual spiced hot chocolate and both dairy and vegan chai native and whole spices and of course our delicious roasted chestnuts.

Hope to see you there!

Listening to Muse and cooking on this wet winters day.... Little teaser before the finished product later - anyone want to hazard a guess at what we're making?

Olives! We haven't given the olive trees the love (and protection) they need this season due to how busy we've been with other things, but we'll pick enough to make a couple of jars and make sure we're sorted out for next season.

We've been lucky enough to score a jar full of olives from our trees, gathered and pickled by a neighbour prior to us moving here so that was super lovely of them - hopefully we'll be able to return the favour.
