Over the weekend, we were proud to support the Terry Charles Shield in Taroom, travelling just over 800km to be part of the day. Once again, we took on the referee duties Taroom Wandoan Battlers A big thank you to the for hosting a fantastic event!
Over the past month, we’ve travelled around 4,500km to help support bush football and keep the game alive in regional communities. None of this would be possible without the incredible volunteers in these country areas—the amount of work they put in is truly unbelievable.

Another carnival ticked off - 800km, referee all 3 senior games and 15 hour day! As we all know we are built on keeping bush rugby league alive! We are super proud what we can do to assist country rugby league!! Congratulations to Wandoan Sport & Rec Association on providing opportunities to senior players and very professional run!

That is an epic effort! 💪🏉
A 21-hour day—leaving at 5am and getting home at 1am—just to help referee at the Kirstin Albeck Carnival shows some serious dedication to grassroots rugby league.
Events like that are massive for country footy. Without volunteers and referees willing to travel long hours and put in days like that, carnivals in the bush simply wouldn’t happen. Supporting young players, clubs, and communities like that keeps Rugby League thriving outside the big cities. 🌾🏉
Honestly, that’s the kind of commitment that earns huge respect in the game. Long drives, early starts, late finishes—and still turning up to officiate properly.

Huge shout out to Kirstin Albeck Memorial 9's Day for outstanding carnival!

FINALISED DRAW.
As advised at the Calcutta tonight, team 4 will have a bye. Good luck and see you all tomorrow for a 11am kick off. Mandatory Captains Briefing 10:30am!!!
Please remember that as per QRL rules, players must be registered to be able to participate!!!

Something we are super proud of in being involved regional rugby league assisting AV Cup in any way we can. We continue to support regional rugby league keeping bush football alive!! Adrian Vowles Cup well done smashed it again looking forward 2027!

🏉 More than 50 junior rugby league teams visited Charleville on the weekend to compete in the Adrian Vowles Cup.

The tournament was created by Murweh Shire Mayor Shaun ‘Zoro’ Radnedge and former professional footballer Adrian Vowles in 2014.

Cr Radnedge said the same values he and Mr Vowles grew up with are instilled in the AV Cup.

“When you travel, you travel together as friends but if teams were short, we all jumped in and we all played. This is exactly what we encourage," Cr Radnedge said.

Queensland Rugby League CEO Ben Ikin said the tournament helps overcome the geographical and logistical challenges of playing rugby league outside the city.

“To be able to hold carnivals like this allows kids from the bush to get more footy than they normally would,” Mr Ikin said.

He said the setting, the experience and boosting the local economy was a positive mix.

“I think all those ingredients wrapped up together make this thing brilliant.”

🥇 Adrian Vowles Cup winning teams:
- U14 Boys - Toowoomba Valleys Roosters
- U14 Girls - Chinchilla Junior Bulldogs
- U16 Boys - Redcliffe Dolphins
- U17 Girls - Chinchilla Junior Bulldogs
