The Talbot Farmers Market Committee extends its condolences on the passing of Mr Fred Davies, a highly respected member of the Talbot community, long-serving Committee member of the Talbot Farmers Market, and founding proprietor of the Stoney Creek Oil Products Pty Ltd market stall.

Fred was involved with the market from its earliest beginnings and played a significant role in shaping it into the vibrant and valued community hub it is today. His dedication and commitment to community life were evident not only through his work with the market, but also through his contributions to numerous organisations and initiatives throughout Talbot.

Fred’s legacy will be remembered by many, and his presence will be missed.

We extend our sympathies to his wife Coral, the Davies family, and all who knew and admired him in the community.

That’s a wrap for May — thanks for bee-ing part of it! 💜🐝

Thank you to Jacki Irwin (AKA Jaxx of all Trades) for hosting her Bee Hotel workshop today - if you made a hotel today and you end up with some native bees in it, let us know! 🐝

Also, big thanks to the students from Talbot Primary School for their bee artworks, as well as the teachers and staff for facilitating the exchange. Your creativity helped brighten the market! 🐝

Bees and farmers markets both help sustain healthy local food systems – bees through pollination that helps crops grow, and markets by connecting communities directly with the people who produce that food. We loved being able to celebrate both today.

We look forward to seeing you in Talbot again on Sunday 21 June for our Winter Solstice market!
