Looking for the right baby formula? Here’s a look at some of the different formula types available at Regents Park Pharmacy and how they differ.

Cow’s milk-based formula is the most common type of infant formula. It uses cow’s milk proteins that have been modified to make the formula suitable for babies and is formulated with the nutrients needed for the specified age and stage.

Goat milk-based formula uses goat milk as its dairy base. Brands such as LittleOak and Karicare offer goat milk formulas across different stages. While the source of the dairy protein differs from cow’s milk formula, goat milk formula is generally not suitable for babies with a diagnosed cow’s milk protein allergy due to similarities between the proteins.

Plant-based formula provides an alternative to dairy-based formulas. Sprout Organic uses certified organic plant-based ingredients and plant-based protein and offers infant and toddler formulations. Its products are dairy-free and lactose-free.

Each type of formula has differences in its protein source, ingredients and formulation, so the most suitable option will depend on your baby’s age, nutritional needs and any diagnosed allergies or dietary requirements.
