& 10 years ago, in 2016, the Polynesian Cultural Center was honored by a special visit from His Majesty King Tupou VI of Tonga, hosted by Alfred Grace, President of the Polynesian Cultural Center.

During his visit, the King graciously took time to smile, connect, and interact with our employees—reflecting love alongside the core Tongan values of respect (fakaʻapaʻapa), humility (loto tō), commitment and service (mamahiʻi meʻa), and maintaining strong relationships (tauhi vaha’a)—values deeply rooted in Tongan culture and closely aligned with our PCC core values.

His visit was more than ceremonial; it was a powerful reminder of Tonga’s living history and the strong cultural ties that continue to connect the Pacific, then and now 🌺🇹🇴

BREAKING: Police have taken a man in handcuffs after a shooting outside a funeral being held at an LDS church in Salt Lake City. Authorities confirm all victims are adults and state the shooting was not random and not religiously targeted. Officers have referenced “shooters,” though it remains unconfirmed whether more than one suspect is involved. Police have not confirmed whether the individual taken In Handcuffs is connected to the shooting. However, the scene began to clear following that.

Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a man wanted on arrest warrants, as part of Operation Amarok.

Sione Akauola, aged 49, is wanted by virtue of an outstanding arrest warrant in relation to domestic violence offences.
He is described as being of Pacific Islander appearance, 185cm tall, large build, brown hair and eyes.
Sione Akauola is believed to frequent the South-West Metropolitan area.

As police continue to conduct inquiries into his whereabouts, they are urging anyone who may have information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Operation Amarok is a state wide operation aimed at arresting persons wanted by virtue of outstanding arrest warrants for domestic and family violence offences.
