I wrote nutrition plans for a few ladies last week and I’ve just had 2 of them check in this morning to tell me that 1 has lost a whopping 2.9kgs and the other 1.3kgs!

My plans are programmed to lose approximately .75kg of body fat per week.

Usually when larger amount gets lost to start off, it can be excess fluid that your body was holding on to trying to cool and calm whatever crappy food was bothering you.

They are both finding the plan very easy and are enjoying their food and feeling great.

I love hearing these good stories and can’t wait for the next check in 💝

Inflammatory foods.

The internet would have you believe they’re hiding in every cupboard waiting to ruin your life.

Here’s the truth.

Most foods aren’t inflammatory on their own.

The problem is often the amount, the frequency, and whether your body can actually handle them.

For one person it’s gluten.
For another it’s dairy.
For someone else it’s alcohol, sugar, processed foods, or simply eating way more than their body needs.

I’ve seen women blame tomatoes, potatoes and fruit while washing down a bottle of wine every night and sleeping 5 hours.

Food matters.

But so does stress.
So does sleep.
So does gut health.
So does excess body fat.
So does moving your body.

If you’re bloated, sore, tired, foggy headed or struggling with weight loss, don’t go removing 47 foods from your diet because TikTok told you they’re inflammatory.

If you’re not sure which foods affect you, keep a simple food journal.

Write down what you eat, how you feel, your energy levels, bloating, pain, headaches, skin flare-ups and digestion.

Patterns usually start to appear pretty quickly.

Your body is usually giving you clues if you’re willing to listen.

Not every food is the enemy.

For those who haven’t met me, I’m Jo Scott, a Weight Loss Nutritionist and Habit Coach based in Townsville.

I own Optibods for Women, a ladies-only strength training studio, hold Personal Training qualifications, am a qualified chef, and previously owned Opti Eats, a weight loss meal preparation service that helped hundreds of locals take the guesswork out of healthy eating.

For the past 11 years I’ve worked with more than 1,000 women, helping them lose weight, improve their relationship with food, and understand what is actually happening inside their bodies.

My approach is a little different. Rather than handing out generic meal plans, I use my own coaching system, software, recipes, educational programs and family-friendly meal ideas to help people create habits they can maintain long term.

No wonder people are confused about nutrition.

We're teaching people to eat protein, reduce carbohydrates and fill their plates with vegetables, yet many have never been taught what proteins, carbohydrates and fats actually are.

A client recently came to me after seeing a dietitian and had been advised to eat:

✔️ Half a plate of protein✔️ 1/4 plate of carbohydrates✔️ 1/4 plate of vegetables

So I asked a simple question.

If you have protein and carbs on your plate, what category do vegetables fall into?

She didn't know.

And that's not a criticism of her. It's not her job to know. That's what she was paying a professional to teach her.

This is the problem I see every day.

People know they should eat more protein.

They know they should reduce carbs.

But they can't identify them on a plate.

They don't understand why they're eating them, what they do in the body, or how to build a meal properly.

I don't want my clients confused.

I want them to understand food.

Because when you understand food, you don't need to keep looking for the next diet, the next meal plan or the next set of rules.

You can make informed decisions for yourself.

And that's where real freedom starts.

“I’m good all day… then I blow out at night.”

I hear this all the time.

And every time, women think they’ve failed.

You haven’t.

You’ve just set your day up in a way that was always going to end like that.

If your day looks like:
coffee… maybe something small… picking here and there… trying to be “good”…

By the time night hits, your body is done being patient.

It wants energy, and it wants it fast.

That’s when it feels out of control.

It’s not discipline.
It’s not willpower.

It’s a setup issue.

Fix the day… and the night fixes itself.

This is one of the biggest shifts I see when women go through Body On — they stop blaming themselves and start understanding what’s actually going on

If you’re tired all the time… but still trying to eat less to lose weight, read this.

You can’t run your body on empty and expect it to perform.

Coffee isn’t fuel.
Skipping meals catches up with you.

And when that happens, everything slows down:

* energy
* mood
* metabolism

Then later… the cravings hit hard.

It’s not about eating less.
It’s about eating properly.

Feel bloated all the time… even when you’re “eating well”?

This one does my head in because women instantly blame the wrong things.

It’s not always the food.
Often, it’s the pattern.

A lot of the time it’s:
👉 inconsistent eating
👉 long gaps without food
👉 then bigger meals trying to catch up

Your body struggles to process it smoothly, so you feel heavy, puffy, uncomfortable.

It’s not random.

It’s a pattern.

Once you fix the rhythm, the bloating usually settles right down.

This is one of the biggest lightbulb moments inside Body On — understanding why your body feels the way it does instead of guessing.

You didn’t gain body fat overnight.

What you’re seeing is:

* fluid
* food volume
* inflammation
* hormones

But because no one explains that properly, it messes with your head.

So you eat less the next day…
Then overeat later…
Then feel like you’ve failed again.

It becomes a cycle.

The scale isn’t the problem — it’s how we’ve been taught to react to it.
