🧐 Look at these tiny broccoli shoots just out of blackout today, all fluffy with root hairs!

This is day 4 of growth for these microgreens and they’ve been in “blackout” until today, where they get a top water before sitting in our grow house (or a nice bright benchtop inside).

The fluffy bits are the root hairs that grow from the radicle (the first main root that emerges from the seed at germination). Root hairs are super fine and help the growing plant access water in these initial stages.

How do you tell between root hairs and mould? Well mould is more like spiderwebs, and spreads between roots and shoots. Root hairs = cute and fluffy, come from the root only.

Did you sow some Pea Shot Peeps with us last weekend? How are they growing?

These three fell by the wayside and I only uncovered them today 😬 but happily it’s only given them so sweet fancy hairstyles!

I’d love to see how yours look, send a dm or post pic in comments 🌱
