You’ll need:

* 1 kg chuck beef
* 2 tbsp olive oil
* 1 onion, chopped
* 2 carrots, diced
* 2 sticks celery, sliced
* 2 cups (400 ml) beef stock
* 2 cups (400 ml) bone broth

Harvest Eltham Market Update.
Wednesday 17th June
🌿

There’s an abundance in store this week — and a few new finds.
Our bananas are great value, red capsicums are still shining bright, and those large Hass avocados are a little treat at 2 for $4.

Soup season is calling, and our j*p pumpkin at 99¢ a kilo is ready to answer — perfect for a slow simmering pot on the stove. Pair it with our beautifully priced celery (just $1 a kilo!) and you’re well on your way to something hearty and warming.

In the chilled veg section, you’ll find lovely coloured cauliflowers and handy cauliflower florets, ready to make dinner easy.
Our sweet Peekaboo pears are still here, and new this week — the Cara Cara oranges have arrived. Seedless, vibrant, and full of nature’s vitamin C, you’ll spot some wrapped in their signature pink.

Also tucked to the side, theres a little basket of rambutans — curious, spiky, and worth a try if you’ve never had one before.

And of course, each morning our shelves are filled with freshly baked bread — ciabatta, spelt loaves, fruit loaves, sourdough and more — delivered bright and early, just waiting to be taken home.

Pop in, wander slowly, and fill your basket with something beautiful 🌾

Cauliflower Cheese Bake 🧀

A humble cauliflower, made golden and glorious.

Take 1½ cauliflowers (beautiful value in-store), break into florets and tumble onto a tray with 2 tbsp olive oil, ½ tsp salt and a gentle crack of pepper. Roast at 220°C for 20 minutes, until just kissed with colour.

Meanwhile, warm 1 cup milk with 1 cup cream on the stove. In another pan, melt 60g butter, stir in 3½ tbsp flour and cook gently for 3 minutes. Slowly whisk in the warm milk and cream, stirring until thick and silky.

Turn off the heat and fold through 1 cup cheddar and 1 cup Gruyère, a pinch of salt and a whisper of nutmeg.

Gently stir your roasted cauliflower through the cheese sauce, then pour into a baking dish. Scatter over an extra cup of mixed cheese for that golden crown.

Bake at 180°C for 30 minutes, until bubbling and beautifully bronzed. Finish with a sprinkle of parsley, if you like.

Let it rest a moment… then serve and enjoy every cosy bite.

Harvest Eltham presents… little jewel of sweetness in the form of traditional rose Turkish delight from Mediterranean Delicacies.

Soft, fragrant, and dusted generously in icing, these delicate bites feel like a quiet nod to old-world kitchens—where recipes are simple, ingredients are honest, and flavour speaks for itself. No long lists, no fuss—just beautifully crafted sweets that taste as though they’ve been made with care and time.

They’re as lovely to look at as they are to eat—perfect for placing on the table beside an afternoon cuppa, where their blush tones and pillowy texture bring a touch of elegance to even the simplest moment.

A little treat, yes—but one that lingers, gently and sweetly.

Wednesday 10th June at Harvest —

and winter is settling in beautifully 🌿

Out the front, our winter veggies are shining. Japanese pumpkin is just 99c a kilo — perfect for roasting, soups, or something slow and cosy. You’ll also find wombok piled high and ready for your stir-fries, fresh, crisp, and waiting to be taken home.

Inside, we’re bursting with oranges — bright, juicy, and just the thing if you’re feeling the chill or a little sniffle coming on. A small dose of sunshine in every bite.

We’ve also welcomed a fresh batch of Barhee raw dates — naturally sweet, beautifully simple, and well worth a try if you haven’t had them before.

And tucked into our fridges, a couple of new favourites… 99th Monkey plant-based smoothies, with a generous 20g of protein per serve. There’s a rich chocolate (no added sugar, but still oh-so-satisfying) and a smooth coffee version for a gentle pick-me-up.

Pop in for a wander, take your time, and fill your basket with something warm and nourishing. We’ve got plenty waiting for you

Simple Focaccia 🌿

There’s something quietly magical about focaccia — the cold weather craves it!

Start by whisking together 2 cups of lukewarm water (think bath temperature), 7g dried yeast, 2 teaspoons of salt, and a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil. Add 4 cups of strong bread flour, stirring until a soft, shaggy dough forms. Scrape down the sides — every bit counts.

Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.

Now comes the gentle rhythm: stretch and fold. Four rounds in total, spaced 30 minutes apart. Each time, lift and fold the dough over itself, turning the bowl as you go. It takes only a minute or two — then back to resting. (Perfect time for a cuppa… or to forget and set a timer.)

After about two hours, your dough will be soft, airy, and alive. You can bake it now, or tuck it into the fridge overnight for an even deeper flavour.

When you’re ready, oil a deep tray generously — focaccia loves a good drizzle. Ease the dough in, stretch it softly to fit, and let it rise again for 30–60 minutes until pillowy.

Then, the best part: dimple the surface with your fingertips, drizzle more olive oil, and scatter your toppings. Think rosemary, basil, capsicum — or whatever feels right. Make a little garden on top if you like.

Bake at 200°C for 20–25 minutes, until golden, crisp, and fragrant.

Let it rest (just briefly), then slice and enjoy — on its own, as a sandwich, or torn apart while still warm.

Simple, generous, and made to be shared.

Even better, it’s completely fuss-free: oven or microwave, heat and enjoy.

Harvest Eltham Market Update 🌿

A little winter magic has settled in, and the shop is full of colour and comfort. Out the front, you’ll find our chilli plants already fruiting, perfect for a sunny kitchen bench or tucked into the garden. Nearby, the red capsicums are glowing at $2.99/kg, and cauliflower is still going strong at $1.99, stacked high and ready for your winter cooking.

Apples are crisp and plentiful, with Royal Galas and Pink Ladies both tasting just right and great value this week. Our red grapes are sitting proudly on the new trolleys—firm, juicy, and ready to grab on your way through.

We also have the beautiful red “peekaboo” pears back in store, sweet and blushing with a lovely crisp bite. Perfect for baking, and a quiet favourite from seasons past.

And as always, the scent of fresh local bread is waiting at the counter—spelt, rye, sourdough, ciabatta and fruit loaf, with the favourites disappearing early each morning.

Pop in, warm up your kitchen, and take home a little of the season. Shop local, support local ✨
